Nicole, I think I must have missed seeing your posting. I have had a busy couple of weeks past. Welcome to the team! And great thanks to Matey Enrage for tossing a lifeline, and helping Nicole jump aboard!

Great to see you back, Jeff and Allie!

And wonderful news being reported for Doctor Dan! Thanks for such a warm and caring reply, Ross. Having been there yourself you can encourage him in a way the rest of us just can't, so thanks for taking the time to post what you did!

Baz, could I interest you in taking your vacation in North Idaho next year? I have a large patio design idea, and was thinking that, well...seeings as you have all this experience now....hmmmm.....Just kidding! We promise only BBQ, Beverage, and Vegemite, and you don't even have to work to earn it if you ever happened out our way! Cheers!

Dan, I hope that your recovery continues to go well, and that you'll be back on the erg in the not too distant future.
(My father had a quintuple by-pass, and less than 4 months later, were on another cross-country bike tour together.)
Brett, I also hope that your brother does well, and wish him, his family, and all of you the best.

Yes, welcome aboard to Nicole, welcome back to Steven D and Harold - all three representing Canada!

The Prologue for the USA Pro Cycling Challenge started just a few minutes ago in Colorado Springs, which is an hour's drive from here. For those who follow professional cycling, this is a really big deal for the US and for Colorado. I believe that it will be nationally televised during the upcoming weekend, and for those who have the Versus channel - you can see now and throughout the week. You'll get a chance to see some of the mountain passes that provide a different kind of challenge.

Image Will be here before we know it !
Already have 42 people signed up for the Fall Challenge team. Remember you have to elect to row in each challenge - even if you are on the year round affiliation team. While you are in your logbook, just go across to teams and scroll down to the challenge section. A quick click and you're on the team !

Meanwhile, we have some spectacular postings for today. Jim K planned to do (and completed) a 50K all in a day -- woohoo - that's a red giant in our team special distance awards. That's some serious rowing! Mega-distance must have been calling others as well because Ron rowed a FULL marathon (just for grins?!). Many fine updates were posted. Everyone keeps plugging away !

Season meters as of 113/365 = 28,246,181 m

Total meters on the day = 788,883 m

Oars in space (participation) = 30 percent

MILESTONES...Bragging Rights...Celebrations:

1.2 MM Bernie
1.2 MM Jim K
225 K Mario Jackson

Thanks to all who rowed today - and who are thinking about rowing some more! Keep the big wheel turning!!

BBQ, Beverage, and Vegemite...you've got it all covered, just checking the calendar now!

Actually, I did get a little ambushed with the paving, not that I didn't enjoy it, but my bother-in-law, Ray, vowed to 'pay me back' for making him walk 40 kilometres on the last day of our Sydney to Newcastle walk! (memory like an elephant) The story can be viewed at the following link...

An Update From Danno

Post by Kona2 » August 24th, 2011, 12:34 am

Say - I heard from Danno today! He's still in lock up, I mean in hospital, but could potentially be released in the next day or so. Like Ross says, there's a bit of the two steps forward, one step back that goes with the initial phases of surgical recovery. Dan being Dan, he's already asked when he can get back to rowing. It's going to be at least two months, but in the meantime he can do a lot of crosstraining with walking. Fortunately, he lives in a place where the weather is going to be super cooperative in the next few months. It will be good to see his comments on the forum again!
