When I do the 1K, 1:52 @ 30 spm, I'll get my speed every 100m.
112 strokes?
BTW, can you still do 1K, 1:52 @ 30 spm, or is that now just a ghost in the shadowy past?
We have seen that you can still do 30 strokes of it.
Well, that's a start, I guess.
I think I can do 1K @ 30 spm OTW without my HR going over my anaerobic threshold (172 bpm).
Top end UT1.
That's why 30 spm would be a good head race rate for me, when I get fully trained up for it.

I'd like to have 27 spm be a standard rate for distance rowing (middlin' to top end UT1).mikvan52 wrote:Why not just do a moderate 1k, as you suggested before? Say at 24 spm??
Given this, 1K intervals at 24 spm makes no sense at all.
Why row UT2 1Ks?
No one does that.
If you are going to row at UT2, just row.
24 spm is a FM rate.
That's right about what I'll rate for the FM @ 1:48 I will do OTErg.

I am looking right at the speed coach as I make the pass.
I am just telling you what it said.
I am happy to keep working at a 1K, 1:52 @ 30 spm.
That's right... You are "telling us" not "showing us" .. a patented liar's trick...
Here's the whole workout for you to do that will show you that you are, as you say, "just as good as"
http://concept2.co.uk/forum/blog.php?u=7679&b=88454
Look at it. See?
the 1:50 sequence was only one of many intervals... and... AND... AND: The NK timer will record it all for you without trouble or fuss!!!

(boy did you ever make a mistake purchasing this new "truth machine"............

As I've been drumming into you:
The entire workout is preprogrammed into the timing device you have... Well, maybe not... I think I remember changing mine from 20 on/ 20 off... to 30 on / 20 off... (20/20 comes from the factory)
Select the "WORKOUTS" function.. and proceed...
Do you think you could handle a minor edit of the workout?
Or, doesn't the brain work either...

You don't need cameras; you don't need to taper; you don't need a long stretch of water (take the 20 off to turn the boat)
All you need is balls.

Go hide in you ergatorium and steel yourself... It's crunch time.

Most of the good boats at the Head of the Charles rate 30 spm.

Actually, 1K intervals at 24spm is a pretty good description of what you do, day in, day out, isn't it? Row a few hundred meters, take a break, row a few hundred meters, post lies on the Internet, row a few more hundred meters...ranger wrote:I'd like to have 27 spm be a standard rate for distance rowing (middlin' to top end UT1).mikvan52 wrote:Why not just do a moderate 1k, as you suggested before? Indeed. Fait accompli. Then there is this:
Sure, it's not UT2, because your HR skyrockets while you flail away trying to maintain that elusive 13SPI, but those are in fact 1K (at best) intervals.

Mike--
Can you still do 1K, 1:52 @ 30 spm?
Give it a try and see.
That's what I'm going to do.
That's 112 strokes, not 30.
I see that you rowed one of your 1K intervals, 2:00 @ 30 spm.
Well, you got the rate right, but you didn't row very well.
2:00 @ 30 spm was what I used to do, dead in the water, in my tubby Peinert three years ago.

30' rest for 10K of UT2 work?
Naw.
If I did that, I would be out there all day.
My goal for distance rowing is to row steadily at 27 spm, both OTErg and OTW, HR pushing to top end UT1.

Why not row AT 1ks?
Why not row TR 1ks?
Why think that you're the sole authority on such things, Rich?
Here's a tip:
Row numerous 1ks below max with short-ish rests
It's good head race training...
DO as I DO (not SAY).

Ranger, the nay-doer, will never pay his just debts.
Ranger, the nay-does, will never race MVB OTW.
Ranger, the nay-doer, will never post any time and distance training results.
Ranger, the nay-doer, will never go below 6:50 OTE.
And, Ranger, the nay-doer, will never post any screen shots of his training from his NK SL2 Speed Coach.
The only thing that Ranger will ever accomplish is thousands of troll-post lies on this thread.

AT and TR 1Ks are fine.mikvan52 wrote: Why not row UT2 1ks?

Even UT1 1Ks are fine.
As I said, at 30 spm, I think I will only be at top-end UT1 at the end of 1K.
UT2 1Ks, though, are just unnecessary.
If you are doing UT2 rowing, just row.
Taking a half an hour of rests to get through 10K of UT2 work is absurd.
The whole point of UT2 work is that it should be done, just gliding along, with a low, steady state HR.
When I cross-train, for instance, on my bike, I do UT2 work.
But I couldn't imagine doing it by riding 1K on my bike (and rigorously noting the time). Then resting three minutes. Then riding 1K on my bike (and rigorously noting the time). Then resting three minutes. Then riding 1K on my bike (and rigorously noting the time). Then resting thee minutes. Then riding 1K on my bike (and rigorously noting the time). Then resting three minutes. Then riding 1K on my bike (and rigorously noting the time). Then resting five minutes...
Forkin' waste of time.
Just ride.

This shows some of the difficulty we were having trying to get some video of my rowing.
Kayaks. Canoes. Camera won't pan. Water too shallow by the dock.
