I'm thankful, too! There are many situations when we're all confronted with how fragile life can be - whether you're getting about on foot, by bike, car, etc. Less transportation dollars for cities and counties means there is less chance of nice pedestrian/biking paths and more shared space (sometimes can't even persuade highways and engineering to give us a bike lane!). We've had some issues in Colorado that are making the national news (Jim K sent me an article on this one) where we have some anti-cyclist behavior going on with tacks, nails and box cutters put in areas where cyclists will be impacted. This is occurring just as the USA Pro Cycling Challenge is heading to Colorado, and what a stage ride that will be with the Tour de France winners riding. It does mean road closures, and changes in traffic patterns, though -- and that is never pleasant whether it's due to construction or an event.

We have a three foot law that says you're not supposed to pass within three feet...this obviously gets ignored a lot. On the flip side, there is often poor behavior on the part of pedestrians and cyclists (blowing through stop signs seems to make everyone ticked off). No one wins against tons of steel moving at a high rate of speed. It sure has made me rethink getting on the bike outside for awhile. Stay safe, everyone, no matter what your mode of transportation.

Come to think of it....we're on ergs....headed back to Earth! Watch out for asteroids and meteors!

What happened to a bunch of our team members? K2 mentioned a glitch and that looks like what it must be. I've searched the honor board for the team members who's names I remember. Cathy, Rosita, Ronnie, and Gabby are nowhere to be found. There are a few more too, but I'm horrible with names. I hope Concept2 knows about it and is working on it.

In other news, my 37 year old brother-in-law had a stroke yesterday. He doesn't smoke or drink. He's not the least bit overweight. I'm unaware of any family history of this sort of thing. It just doesn't make any sense to me. He's married to my sister, who is a stay at home mom, and they have 4 kids between 2 and 6 years old. Hopefully, he's going to bounce back, but the whole family is a little shocked and worried right now. Doesn't appear to be any signs of paralysis, but he's going to stay in the hospital for a couple more days. I don't know much more details than that. For those of you who pray, please pray for my brother-in-law Glen, my sister Tara, and their 4 kids: Patrick, Lucas, Whitney, and Leah.

Wishing the best possible outcome for Glen and his family! He's a relatively young guy - and sounds like he has a lot of good things going for him - especially a caring family ! Speedy recovery !

As for the Vanishing Eleven - this is a mystery. Let's hope they are doing well wherever they are!

Just caught up with the news on Danno... happy news that he is in recovery mode! B) Any updates?
Brett - thoughts are with you guys, trust that your brother makes a full comeback from this... so scary how indiscriminate problems like this can be. :(

Going to be tough to hit the 40k mark this week... tomorrow is going to be pretty big if it happens!

Cheers,
Dave

Another speed posting.....although there is a Bunny Trail of the mind lurking due to the just about daily finding of these giant zucchini invader species in my garden....I believe that zucchini must be related to mint...plant one sprig and it takes over....
