So: Clearly you success OTErg depends on being "unprepared" and you haven't won a World Championship since 2003.
Are you going to follow the same type of unpreparedness training for your OTW training? Is that what you mean when you use the term "UT"? :P

Why don't you prepare? It's been 8 years since you last "prepared" for an event.. When you say unprepared & my work is done in the same breath I get very confused. :?

Finally, looking at your list: Why did you decide to not prepare for anything in the last eight years?
Or, is this all some kind of colossal joke on your part? If so, is this a Mid-Western sort of (DF Egypt) humor?

Nice 10K over at Europe Lake, in the near dark, after 15K OTErg before dawn.

The NK XL2 is cool.

It is back lit.

What do the funny little numbers on the screen say?

Split type and magnitude are set.
They all can be recalled in the following way:

Select: "JUST ROW"
Select: "REVIEW MEMORY"
Scroll with the up and down arrows...

Unlike a PM4 these values are stored automatically... There's no excuse such as "I can't find them anymore"

That's the ticket. After all, head races never have bad weather so there is no good reason to practice for windy, rainy, cold, etc. weather. Good thinking.

II Kings 2:23-24:

And he went up from thence unto Ann Arbor: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth rowers out of the community, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go race the Fall heads; go race the Fall heads. And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and erged forty and two kilometers instead for them.

I'm not planning to enter any race on erg or water before there's only one person left in my category. [See post above]

So that is what I should aim at this summer and fall for long distance rowing in my 1x, eventually, I hope, for distances up to a HM/20K.

September 13th, 2010
doing 20K sessions OTW would be vastly better than sticking with my present 10K.

September 16th, 2010
without having to turn around, I suspect I will eventually be able to do 20K, 2:10 @ 24-26 spm. When I race 5K OTW, I'll rate 30 spm.

June 25th, 2011
The goal for this summer up here in Door County is to get into a routine of 20K OTErg just before dawn and then 20K OTW just after dawn

Moon rowing

Post by Byron Drachman » August 9th, 2011, 11:28 am

We don't go to the moon, but every summer our rowing club does a full moon row. We take out a training barge and a few quads if we don't all fit on the barge. The barge is decorated with lights. We have "galley sluts" going up and down serving drinks and food on the barge. At midnight we have the river to ourselves, and for safety we have a launch and pontoon boat with lots of lights along. Afterward we have a cookout near the boat house. It is the social event of the year.
