And yet you hold exactly zero world records. Strange that?

I used to think you were a certainty to break Bailey's WR but now I'd very much doubt that, as a fully prepared lwt, you'd manage anything better than 6:45. On a good day.

Hence you're not the best erger for your age and weight-- by far.

Who's worried? I go to venues both indoor and on the water. I race. I do the best I can on the day. I have fun. Worry doesn't come into the equation.

You sit in front of a keyboard for hours on end claiming to be the best at something but recently failing to produce one scrap of evidence in support of that statement. "Just wait for the FM trial" you've been saying ad nauseum and still we wait. It will never happen. Can you do 5K on the erg at 1:48 without stopping yet? No? Thought not.

Get over yourself Rich. Shame I won't get to see you win HOCR this year. I'll enjoy my race. I won't win or even be close, but I'll have fun and that's good by me.

Tinpusher,

Why in the world are you interested in being a responsible, standup, likable, personable human being? Not much room for your type around here.

No, I don't.

I natter away at the keyboard here for about a half hour or so a day, if that.

This morning, I have spent five minutes.

I am rowing about three hours a day.

10K OTW yesterday afternoon on the big lake, to add to 10K OTW after breakfast, after 15K before breakfast OTErg.

So, a nice 35K yesterday, 15K OTErg and 20K OTW, at two different OTW venues.

If you are a 60s lwt, as I am, and row well (13 SPI), as I now do, you row below WR 2K pace (1:40) at 27 spm, "base" rate, which in terms of effort is usually top end UT1.

Top end UT1 is 2K + 10.

This morning: 15K erg, just before dawn.

Beautifully calm morning here is Door County, WI.

Water like glass, even on the big lake.

Time to get out OTW.

The purpose of good technique is to get so that you can do a lot of work easily on each stroke.

If you row well, when you take just a normal, easy stroke, you really move the boat (or spin the wheel).

Those who say that they row well, or that technique is irrelevant in rowing, but do no easy work on each stroke are just fooling themselves.

They need to wise up.

They don't row well.

So, in this sport, they are missing the boat.

That might not happen. PaulH is on his holidays in Florida. If our hero needs a ban you'll need to send Paul a private msg (PM). http://www.c2forum.com/ucp.php?i=pm&mode=compose&u=3

10K OTW over at Europe Lake., after 15K OTErg.

Perfect conditions.

OTW, I am now doing a solid 2:05 @ 22 spm (8 SPI) with a UT2 HR.

Delighted with that.

2:05 @ 22 spm a nice pace and rate for sustained distance rowing, and it's always best to do most of your meters at UT2 (or perhaps a little above).

At 15 seconds over erg times, 2:05 @ 22 spm OTW is the equivalent of 1:50 @ 22 spm (12 SPI) OTErg.

Maybe.

Maybe not.

For that to happen, the race directors need to give me an entry.

No luck this year.
