Yea.

It looks as though, at the same rate, my HR is about the same OTErg and OTW.

UT2 is 24 spm

UT1 is 27 spm

AT is 30 spm

TR is 33 spm

AN is 36 spm

if the above blather is anywhere close to factual, rangerboy, you are

a) rowing with 180cm oars;

b) have so much crossover your hands are over the opposite gunnels at midstroke; or

c) have removed 90% of the blade from the shaft; or

d) some combination of the above.

oh, forgot e) you're a lying bag of squirrel poop.

I'm voting for 'e'.

The entries are listed and your name does not appear in your event. It must be an error on their part. But not to worry; although you are past the deadline, they accept late entries until August 9 so there is ample time to correct the error.

You're welcome for the heads-up.
Byron -- as always, thanks for the historical (or is that hyster-ical) reference.

alas, the people who, in their wisdom decided to hold Master's Nationals in OKC seemed to have ignored common weather patterns, which predict a temp 106 for the event...

a temperature at which even rangerboy could conceivably make weight! and thereby been able to race five other guys for the national championship!

Hi Leadville,

Dang, I see what you mean. I just looked at the banner at regattacentral showing the temperatures at OKC:

Today
108/81

Tomorrow
112/83

Thursday
108/79

Friday
106/81

I see you are in listed in event 58 so they got your registration OK. You're lucky because they obviously lost Ranger's registration. That's a disgrace. They obviously need to get better organized.

Are you passing through Lansing this year? If we go for a row I can show you the exact spot of Ranger's infamous collision. Maybe we could put up a WARNING RANGER CROSSING sign at that one and only spot on the course where there is a gentle curve.

Is your math aptitude so low?
9.6 (the number of 500's = length of HOCR course)
2 (ranger goal pace)

9.6 x 2 = 19.2 minutes.. = 19:12

Okay .. what won last year... look it up!

ranger never does his homework or a "predictive workout"

You will not be in the top 15 and will most probably get failure to yield penalties out the wazoo... :|

Congratulations, RIch... You now have another $110.00 to invest wisely in the stock market!

Meyer, Andersen, Spousta, and Dietz won't have you to kick around.... Of course you could face them in other regattas... but you won't...

Why not try the Head of Schuylkill? or the Hooch?

Why do I feel a temper tantrum coming?

Has the end of the Universe happened? The big crunch is happening first, Ranger will never complete his "all the ranking distances" training plan. He'll never compete at any championships again. He'll struggle to break 7:00, again.

Is that the HR you are running at 2:05 pace?

At 15 seconds per 500m over erg times, your 2:05 @ 26 spm is the equivalent OTErg of 1:50 @ 26 spm.
Here is the major difference between us now, I guess.

OTErg, you are at an AT HR at 1:50 pace (at 15 seconds over erg times, the equivalent of 2:05 pace OTW).

OTErg, I am at an AT HR at 1:38 pace (at 15 seconds over erg times, the equivalent of 1:53 pace OTW)

The difference is a dozen seconds per 500m.

In terms of HR bands, the situation is this:

My UT2 is your AT.

I will do a FM @ 1:48; you do 5K @ 1:48. A FM is done at UT2; 5K is done at AT.

Your UT2, and therefore FM pace, is 2:00.

Sure, OTW, I need to continue to develop my skills so that I can give a full effort without my skills undermining the result.

But I am making good progress with it.

BTW, OTW, at 8 SPI, a reasonable standard fo rowing well, 2:05 is 22 spm, a UT2 rate.

30 spm is an AT rate.

8 SPI @ 30 spm is 1:53 pace.

Ah.

That's too bad.

I was looking forward to it.

Perhaps it's for the best, though.

This is my last fall semester of teaching before I retire.

After this fall, I won't have any work conflicts in the fall, so it will be much easier for me, in practical terms, to follow a circuit of head racing each fall, including the Head of the Charles.

15K erg, just before dawn.

Yea.

I am now settling in nicely to 13 SPI @ 24 spm in my distance rowing.

1:44

Better length.

Better catches and finishes.

I am now rowing well.

At the moment, this 24 spm seems to be the most likely rate for my FM trial.

For a lightweight, 24 spm is a pretty standard FM rate.

Lucky for you ... now you won't have to come up with excuses for your epic HOCR fail! I bet that would have been very distracting when talking about poetry this fall.
