Just wanted to say I had a nice 5k row today on RowPro with Clair, Marilyn, Anne and Shannon. (also gents Anders, Andreas, and Michal keeping us company!) Anyway, 5 females is the most I have seen yet in a RowPro session. Great to see! And congrats Clair, on your new PB time.

- Krysta

Yes, Krysta, that was fun (sort of) . It's too bad that I had all that trouble with getting started. I was totally not ready when the guy said ROW! Then after, I couldn't chat for the longest time because my keyboard was unplugged!! A PB attempt was not meant to happen today, I'm sure of it.

I would love to do more workouts on there sometime and they don't even have to be fast ones, a little companionship on a long row is fun too!

Shannon

I am in for companionship rows!
I will be home alone Feb 18 and 19.
So I would be up for rowing at any time on Saturday the 18th and in the afternoon on Sunday the 19.

How about a 6 or 10 K? I am in eastern time (too tired to figure out GMT at the moment.) What time works for others especially in the west?

Susan

Hey Susan,

Lucky you! I think that I have been home alone only once or twice in the past 14 years!!

I would love to do a companionship 10K with you, but I am in the Pacific time zone, so three hours earlier than you. I don't like rowing too early in the morning especially on the weekend so I'd be available from say 10:00 am (my time) until when you go to bed . 10:00 am would be 18:00 hours GMT, I believe, but don't quote me on that. Is that too late for you?

I speedskate on Sundays, and like to keep my legs fresh for that, so I'd have to skip the Sunday workout.

What kind of pace do you like to do?

Shannon

Danae is my parents only domestic grandchild (her other grandchild lives in France.) So my parents invite Danae over for a long weekend several times a year.

I could row in the afternoon. How about 2 PM Eastern (1PM Central, noon Mountain, 11 Pacific?) Which would be 19:00 GMT?

Speed skating. WOW. I have only seen that at the Olympics. (We are having the warmest winter since 1933--We only had one snow fall and that was technically in the fall!)

Susan

Hi Susan,

19:00 GMT sounds great to me. Do you want to list the workout on the digital rowing site or should I?

Also, what kind of pace do you want to go at?

Shannon

I will try and list it but first a few more details....

We need to come up with a pace AND a distance.

For 6 K I can sustain 2:30/500. It does push me but that's good.
For 10 K, I could start around 2:30 but would tire and be able to finish at around 2:35-2:39.

Susan,

I'd be up for the 10 k if you are. I'm trying to lose weight and find that rowing longer helps. We can go at 2:30-2:39 for the pace. That is quite a bit faster than I go on regular rows, but obviously I need to push myself every now and again. I did my marathon at a 2:35 pace, so it's not that it would be that hard, I guess I'm just a little lazy at times . Rowing with you will obviously help with that. I'm really looking forward to this .

Shannon

Yes it was great rowing with everyone. It would be good to do some training together. I seem to be going PB mad this week rowing a 30min PB on Tuesday and then beating it again on Wednesday. I can't join you this evening as I have been awake now for over 34 hours and I need to get some sleep.

OK. I have set up a 10 K row for Saturday Feb 18 at 1900 GMT (2 PM Eastern) on RowPro.
It is a companionable row with the aim to row 2:30-2:39.

Woo Hoo!
Susan

We have room for three more in our row on Saturday (2/19--1900GMT).

Unfortunately my family plans have changed. I still plan to row but I might get interrupted and fall behind. I was supposed to be alone for the day but the family will be around. We will explain to Danae that she can't interrupt Mommy's row. So we will see how it goes.)

I am looking forward to Saturday.

Susan

Alright, I am going to be brave and try to join you girls. This assumes that I can commandeer my husband's laptop for an hour and get him to help me set it up. I think I have the basick idea - USB cable to laptop, wireless internet should reach the garage. We probably haven't installed RowPro yet. What do we do then? Is there an internet site I need to know to link to?

As for me, I've never done a 10K before. My longest was 8491 m (45 min) @ 2:39. I think I may be able to maintain a 2:35 - 2:38 pace for much of the distance. My goal anyway.

Do folks warm up before starting this sort of thing? If it were a 2K going for a PB, I would certainly warm-up before, but for a 10K I don't know if I need to add any extra meters. For the first couple hundred meters, I'm usually lucky if I can get going at 2:45. After that it gets better.

Schenley

Yeah! Yippee! Take the plunge!

I typically do about 500 m of warm-up. I am new to exercise. So I get in that warm up 15 minutes before the start time and then do some stretches. Then I am ready to race.

You are welcome to call me while you are setting up your computer. I will try and send you my phone numbers in an email. If you don't get them let me know (you can post a message).

Susan
