LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.

A member of an indoor rowing team or club? If so, this is the place for you.

Can this one team row to the moon and back?

So hopefully with a few new stents in place I'll be back on the erg around the middle of the month. Of course if I have to have by-pass surgery that date will be passed back by at least 6 weeks.

With your excellent exercise regime, and positive attitude ... along with that inimitable sense of humor ... I have no doubt that you'll bounce back with the same velocity as you did after the hand injury, and after moving the monitor-which-was-size-of-Delaware. You just like a challenge, doncha? More importantly, how does this diagnosis affect your glass of wine with dinner? Be well, my friend, and all best wishes.

Wondered what Australia is going to do to celebrate Evans' great accomplishment (and dang it's been a long time coming!)....maybe our Aussie teammates can share how all the celebrations go?

Hi All, it has been a while since I posted and rowed. The Newall-Vuillemot family has gone on and adventure moving from WA state to Woodstock, CT this summer. 5 Kids 3,400 miles, a uhaul, minivan and car being towed behind. We saluted many of you as we crossed through your states. Even thought of Moose in MN. The rowing machine has now been unpacked, so one step closer to being used again, although boxes and staircases seem to be a workout enough at the moment.

Our youngest, Adian Cadel, is celebrating his namesake's victory. What a great tour.

Wow, that's a really nice garden you've got there, K2. I like the layout around your yard like that.

Rosi and 27 atta girls!!!!!!!

K2 belated happy B-Day.

Minnie mentioned Glens Falls, I was there for the past past few days, I should say phew days, it was over 100 on our backporch everyday. Didn't know about Kevin until tonight so I didn't look him up. When I go back in August I will look him up and give the team a character report!

Y'all may have noticed I am drifting backwards on the leader board. A couple of weeks ago I had a stress test and failed miserably. My cardiologist recommended a heart cath but with the Princess gone for 2 months and two trips to Glens Falls scheduled I wanted to wait until the the end of Aug. My cardiologist said he thought I would be ok if I stayed off the erg. Well I took the first trip to GF and the flight nearly did me in. So while I was there I rescheduled my surgery to Aug 5. So hopefully with a few new stents in place I'll be back on the erg around the middle of the month. Of course if I have to have by-pass surgery that date will be passed back by at least 6 weeks.

So that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I'm hoping I don't have to join the zipper club!

Love this teams enthusiasm!

Hey Danno, sorry to hear about your heart issues. You might want to take a look at http://www.cardiacathletes.org.uk/forums/

A lot of inspiring athletes with a lot of knowledge.

Becoming a member of the zipper club is pretty bad for the first couple of months and I hope that you do not have to go through that. My C2 has helped me and a number of others with our rehab.

All the best.

Brett with (22,921 m) to go! Let's see....if Brett rows his 15K plus a few, he'll be within 8 K of one of THE GOALS of his rowing year. If he decides to go for the goal today, suspect he'll stop at exactly one million meters....just to savor being there for awhile. So many ifs....just seize the day, Brett !

Bernie with (49,278 m) to go! Wowzer, nice update of almost 100K brings Bernie, fan of Pink, into the countdown mix of the one million meter-ers. Yep, our Crystal Ball says that Bernie will cross that 1,000,000 meter milestone and declare it is time to Get The Party Started and throw Glitter in the Air.

Ron with (55,105 m) to go! He's clicking those meters off...here a moon over Vermont, there a full moon, half moon plus...hooboy!

While not quite a lightning storm of Igor and Frankenstein ilk, it was definitely stormy...lost power just as the invader species zucchini was going into the oven....I was sure it was an omen.

Lots of teammates gathering up some personal milestones - especially our younger rowers! Great rowing day for all yesterday. Stay hydrated if you're in the heat wave zone...

American Flyers....one of the best cycling movies I've watched. Plus we get to see Kevin Costner with a legendary Mustache.

American Flyers ... good film, good scenery, great mustache. (Questionable health decision, perhaps.) I also liked Breaking Away.

Inspirational sports movies are great to watch while rowing ... Hoosiers, Miracle on Ice, Rocky (the first one!), Karate Kid (either one), Bend it Like Beckham, The Rookie, The Natural, Field of Dreams, The Mighty Ducks (oh, yeah), Chariots of Fire, Seabiscuit and Secretarial (horse athletes) ... to name but a few. Any other recommendations?

Good rowing movie on netflix streaming, Miracle at Oxford (the uk version was titled True Blue) (8 man rowing crew). There are a few familiar faces in the film.
That was a better movie than "Rowing through" (double and single rowing), also on netflix streaming. The actor who plays the sherriff on the Syfy tv show Eureka is the main character. You can tell he has rowing experience, he has a good catch.

"Rowing through"

lately i've just been watching Star Trek Enterprise episodes while rowing. :P

Thx! I put both movies in my queue when you mentioned Miracle at Oxford, previously. They're moving up! (Discontinued streaming, DSL got way slow this year and just kept rebuffering ... waiting for faster connection to be available in our neighborhood.)

Star Trek Enterprise was the best. I also like Chris Pine as Kirk (2009).

the bright side is that your mortgage is paid off. Congrats on accomplishing that.
Stay positive, work your worry out on the erg and i am hopeful that something will come your way.

Ron, that is a huge accomplishment - paying off your mortgage - congratulations!!!!! And quitting your job after being with the same company for that long? Well, that is about as major a leap in life as one might ever come up against - it sounds like you have made the right choice, though. I anticipate great things and new horizons opening up for you in the weeks, months and years ahead. All that stress induced physiological upset should be fading away once your transition out of your job has been completed. How exciting for you and your wife!

Woohoo! We celebrate ALL kinds of milestones here! Congratulations, Ron (and Lyn) on paying off your mortgage, and successfully keeping a position with the same company for 35 years. Those are great accomplishments!

A lot of our sports talk applies to other areas of our lives as well - and when we say "leave it all on the field," we mean don't play it safe, don't leave the field thinking you could have done more. Life can be short, and now you have the opportunity for something greater. The hard part was the deciding... :D
