Congrats Rosita and Minnie! I'm trying to ride your skirts to be one of the next. If you feel like you're pulling an anchor, that's me.

I don't remember the last time I wore a skirt. Mostly shortsBigBrett58 wrote:Congrats Rosita and Minnie! I'm trying to ride your skirts to be one of the next. If you feel like you're pulling an anchor, that's me.
I think you will catch us Brett.

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
I've only taken 2 days off in July so far and I'm barely keeping up. Minnie flew past me tortoise and hare style. ("tortoise and hare style" seems like a "Before and After" type puzzle off of Wheel of Fortune) I'm really looking forward to seeing how many people we'll have near the top in the Fall Challenge. Most of my life, I was involved in team sports. I never thought rowing would become my sport, but I love to compete even if no one else knows I'm competing against them.rosita wrote:I don't remember the last time I wore a skirt. For the record, I can't remember the last time I wore a skirt either.
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Crikey...plenty of rowing has been happening while I was running around the outback. I went back to work on Wednesday, and thought I would ease back into rowing this weekend... Been missing it I must say, so glad to be back in 'the seat'. And need to catch up on the metres!
We had a great trip, and I'm currently updating the story, and pictures...spent this afternoon cleaning the camper trailer!
Cheers! BBB

Rowing kind of sneaks up on you, and before you know it....you're addicted! Hahahaha! And what a team sport it is (that Fall Challenge is going to be spectacular!) ...just look at all these comments (skirts indeed!) flying about as the milestones get closer....BigBrett58 wrote: Most of my life, I was involved in team sports. And speaking of milestones, Brett's new photo for his posting avatar shows how he's meeting some personal milestones...cool stuff, this rowing that helps us on so many levels!! Woot !!
Capturing the numbers, will post later in the day...hiking about in Grand County....

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Here's the story behind my new picture: My friend and I went out to dinner last night to a Chinese buffet. We've know the owner for a couple years. Evidently, he's sponsoring the local arena football (football) team. (That's my poke at Rosita who plays football (soccer)). He gave us a couple jerseys, including the one I'm wearing in the photo. The one I'm wearing is a game worn jersey by a guy who was player of the game. What I'm trying to figure out is how the guy fit shoulder pads under that jersey. It was so tight on me that I thought I was going to need scissors to cut it off. Actually, the jersey was a lot nicer than what we had in college. We used double-sided tape on our shoulder pads to keep the jersey tight so the other team couldn't grab our jersey and use it for leverage. This jersey was made of compression type material, so no need for tape. It also had elastic in the sleeves. We had to tuck our sleeves into the pads which we could only do with help from a teammate. Getting outfitted for a football must be very similar to knights putting on armor for jousting. It's very time consuming, uncomfortable, and requires outside help. Once you get everything on, you're heavier, slower, less agile, and it's hot. With the horrible heat we've had lately, I'm not missing football (football) at all. Rowing in the air conditioning is the way to go.
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Okay, Rosi, ready to start planning a road trip? On second thoughts, even with the one-hour time difference, you're up and rowing at O-Dark-30 ... it would never work. I know this because I'd just finished my Saturday's meters, shy of midnight ... and by 8 AM you had already rowed and logged your Sunday meters. You'd probably played a quick game of futbol, too. Go Barca! (I was up at an uncivilized hour this morning because the Princess Grandbaby slept over last night ... one forgets that 10-month olds play by their own schedules. She is as tiring as a full marathon, but much more amusing!)macbruce1 wrote: ... Rosi and Minnie (sounds like a singing act ) Ron
I'm loving hearing about everyone's events and adventures, clothing anecdotes (you tape your shirt to your body ... really?), and "feeling-better-now" updates.

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
I will make this one big post:
Rosi and 27 atta girls!!!!!!!
K2 belated happy B-Day.
Minnie mentioned Glens Falls, I was there for the past past few days, I should say phew days, it was over 100 on our backporch everyday. Didn't know about Kevin until tonight so I didn't look him up. When I go back in August I will look him up and give the team a character report!
Y'all may have noticed I am drifting backwards on the leader board. A couple of weeks ago I had a stress test and failed miserably. My cardiologist recommended a heart cath but with the Princess gone for 2 months and two trips to Glens Falls scheduled I wanted to wait until the the end of Aug. My cardiologist said he thought I would be ok if I stayed off the erg. Well I took the first trip to GF and the flight nearly did me in. So while I was there I rescheduled my surgery to Aug 5. So hopefully with a few new stents in place I'll be back on the erg around the middle of the month. Of course if I have to have by-pass surgery that date will be passed back by at least 6 weeks.
So that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I'm hoping I don't have to join the zipper club!
Love this teams enthusiasm!

An Aussie Celebration !
Watching Cadel Evans, the first Australian to win the Tour de France, make up not only the 57 seconds he lagged during the last racing stage of the Tour, and also go on to finish 1:34 ahead of second place finisher was totally inspiring! It was a time trial ride of his life - well planned, well trained. Here in the US, seems like we say that the winners of biggie events are "going to Disneyland" to celebrate their victories. Wondered what Australia is going to do to celebrate Evans' great accomplishment (and dang it's been a long time coming!)....maybe our Aussie teammates can share how all the celebrations go?

Re: An Aussie Celebration !
What a great effort, and this will go down as one of Australia's great sporting achievements. I did hear someone on the radio this morning suggesting we should get a public holiday, but not likely. Suspect there will be a few new bikes on the road over the months ahead though....Kona2 wrote:Watching Cadel Evans, the first Australian to win the Tour de France, make up not only the 57 seconds he lagged during the last racing stage of the Tour, and also go on to finish 1:34 ahead of second place finisher was totally inspiring! Another Episode....
Where did THAT come from ?! Who knew there was a squash glossary??! A late afternoon trek out to my garden revealed an invader variety! I thought that amongst the pumpkins and butternut squash I would find some very colorful yellow summer squash. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them, but they were going to be colorful. But no. There hidden in the squash leaves and orange colored blossoms were these green GIANTS...yep....the zuccini garden gnome struck. Now I'll have to be the midnight marauder and leave them on the neighbors' doorsteps in the night.
Pretty sure these are butternut squash babies...they aren't very big yet, but are also prolific...
Meanwhile, the team rowed on! We are approaching the 25 million team meter mark as several teammates are kicking their daily erg output up a notch or two! Must be all the summertime temperatures - mooning is on the increase for sure. Yes, meter millionaire fever is at a high pitch! The good part is that everyone can be a meter millionaire...woot !
