Happy Birthday to the whole crew of you celebrating this week! What a lot of B-days in a row!

And way to go, Will and Minnie, on your millions milestones!

Baz, I just read your trip blog. Looks like you all are having some real fun out there. And your Tvan is about the coolest thing I have ever seen. What do you think the shipping to Idaho is on one of those things? :D

Posting for Ben now, he got his first lifetime million yesterday:

Keep the big wheel turning......row row row....

Image Another episode...

Started thinking about the name of the upcoming challenge "Dog Days of Summer" and wondering about the name "Dog Days." Some would say that it's all about the prominent star known as the Dog Star (aka Sirius) in Canis Major, and where that constellation is positioned in the skies over our Rowing Universe at this time of year. Dog Star and/or Sirius...these could be any of the following: Keanu Reeves' alternative rock band, a short story by Arthur C Clarke (also published under the name Moon Dog - cool story btw), a website for dog lovers, a satellite radio network, or Harry Potter's godfather.

Get outside and take a look at the night sky you're rowing under....

Season meters as of 76/365 = 21,369,667 m

Total meters on the day = 230,416 m

Oars in space (participation) = 27 percent

Rosita with (79,045 m) to go!

Minnie with (114,111 m) to go!

We'll be adding Brett to this list any day now (usually start countdowns about 150K out)

Thanks to all who rowed today for keeping us in the skies above the Rowing Universe!

Sort of recovering.....more like feeling the pressure of a marathon only two months away, and needing to get the training for it underway - only 2 months behind schedule....

The heat and humidity of August usually leave me panting like a dog by the time I'm off the erg.

Kristine has selected the infamous Two Bear Marathon (whether she is chased by or wrestles with is the question) for her September 11th marathon. I figure if she can win out against the alien virus that she's been fighting, she can probably handle the bears.

The Two Bear Marathon website has this to say:

September 11, 2011
Three intrepid marathoners (only one of whom had a vague sense of direction), armed with topo maps, a GPS, and bear spray, spent the better part of the summer and fall of 2004 getting lost in the Stillwater State Forest. Eventually, however, they accomplished their goal and mapped out a challenging, scenic course for a marathon. Next, they chose a weekend when the fall colors were at their peak, and the Two Bear Marathon was born.

Clearly it is left to our imagination as to whether or not the bear spray was ever used, but the name of the marathon suggests that there were at least two sightings. Yikes. Just make sure that the crackle of leaves as you run through the woods is the sound you and other runners are making....and not those that you need the spray for...
