I got off track when I needed it most about 7 months ago while going through some family stuff too. You're back home now. Wipe the slate clean and get in your zone while rowing. I hope you find the same peaceful place while rowing that I've come to enjoy. Take care of yourself.ukalady wrote:I'm back (she says, red-faced). I wanted to tell you folks that, despite my recent months of non-rowing, I always checked in on the board and knew you guys and my rower would be ready for me again when I was ready to climb on. Like so many folks (I'm guessing--or is everyone here always on top of things?), life got in the way in the past several months (mother-in-law with long cancer and dementia, protracted legal issues, father with three brain surgeries, son announcing a soon-to-happen wedding). While I *knew* that I'd be able to cope better if I kept exercising, I didn't do what I knew I should do. I just walked past the Concept2 each day and tried to avoid looking at it.
But, I'm back and happy to be rowing again, albeit with low meters. Happy "start of summer" to all, no matter where you are. I'm hoping that I'm able to continue this (it's already feeling better) and the season change to fall finds me still rowing.

We are off on our Northern Adventure in a couple of days, Friday actually, but finishing work tomorrow, TomO finishes school on Thursday (they play Rugby all day Thursday – why didn’t my parents send me to a school like that! )... Janet is ready to go!
‘The Landy’ will be following a similar route to last year’s with some slight variations, tracking to far-western Queensland before heading northwards towards the warmer weather that the Gulf provides at this time of year... And like last year ‘The Landy’ will be writing a blog and updating with photos along the way, and if you’re inclined you’ll be able to track its progress and check in on the blog at the following links...
Must say I’ve been a little light-on on the rowing front recently, plenty of weight training, but must say I’m a little ‘exercised’ out, so looking forward to the break. We’re taking the bikes and I’m hoping to ride parts of the trip...

Bikes on Trail Ridge Road
Here's a link to a 9 News (KUSA) video from last night's broadcast. Seems that over 1000 cyclists were treated to snow on Trail Ridge Road as they rode the link between Estes Park and Granby. Some great shots of the route that goes up to 12,000 ft at summit!

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Welcome back everyone! It is really cool that we can keep on reading about the team goings on here, even when life gets so hectic we can't actually get any rowing done. I think it helps keep us feeling like there is hope that we will be rowing again someday when we are off for awhile. Go Luna-Tics!

well said captain k...and congrats to everyone who did the summer soistice challenge.....
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Ugh. Did my half marathon already.
I stacked my hour of fitness release time with my lunch hour and now i'm back at work.
FYI:
its hard to row when your laughing. I was watching Patrice O'neal's stand up special on netflix streaming. If you ever want to get a good ab workout when rowing, just watch a comedian who makes you laugh really hard. Your core will thank you later for it.

I'm in the "Paradise" in the western Sierra/Cascade foothills, Bob. Near Chico and north of Sacramento.Bob S. wrote:Your location shows Paradise, CA. Is that the incorporated town of Paradise in the western Sierra foothills or the unincorporated development called Paradise on the east slope, a few miles north of Bishop?
I'm just curious, since there are only a few folks here in the Eastern Sierra region that have indoor rowers.
Bob S.
It's a warm one here today--'supposed to reach mid-90s. Geesh. I'll turn that fan on when I start rowing!
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
It's 102 and climbing, here in Sacramento ... and I have 12 ladies arriving at my house tonight for neighborhood bunco (the game, not the scam). Here's hoping that the air conditioner is up to it this evening!ukalady wrote: It's a warm one here today--'supposed to reach mid-90s. Geesh. I'll turn that fan on when I start rowing!
No chance that I'll do my solstice challenge after they all leave at 11pm ... Danno, will you row a quick 20K for me? Pay you back later ...

We're up to the mid-90s in the Owens Valley now, but the humidity rarely gets over 30%, so it gets cool at night and a swamp cooler is almost always adequate during the day.just27 wrote:It's 102 and climbing, here in Sacramentoukalady wrote: It's a warm one here today--'supposed to reach mid-90s.
