Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Good weekend to all Luna-tics, I suspect no Rugby this weekend as too wet, but I’m hoping for a row tomorrow see how the cold goes (or whatever it is).
A week to go before our Northern Adventure in ‘The Landy’ so I’ll post a couple of links next week... and geez, I’ll have some metres to catch up on when I get home if I’m going to reach that 6M plus this season...
Cheers BBB

Hello all,
This is my 3rd day after surgery. The day after went really well. The 2nd day after was pretty rough with sore throat. Today, was pretty rough as well, but I think I'm turning a corner. After 2 full days of no rowing, I couldn't resist getting on today. My body was so rested that it felt wonderful to log in some meters. I sipping on a mango, orange, frozen yogurt, skim milk smoothie right now and watching some baseball. Seems like everything is going to be OK. Hoping for a good night of sleep tonight and a better day tomorrow. Thanks for the kind words of encouragement. Have a nice weekend everyone.

Summmmr days = having a tough time fitting in some rowing? Maybe (like me) you've been thinking you don't have time to row a specific amount of meters, and you haven't tried to just row what you have time for?! String together a bunch of just rows and you'll get to your next milestone sometimes faster than by waiting until you have mega time for mega meters! As a team, we're definitely not just about the mega meters - we celebrate it all ! Cheers to those who are finding a way to fit in some time even on busy days, on RECOVERY days (don't know why we would be thinking about some smoothies.... ...subliminal...) !

C'mon, Doctor Dan, You can do it!
Brett, that smoothie sounds super yummy! Another Vita-Mix concoction, I presume?
I don't know how much longer this alien is going to stay in my lungs, but I will sure be glad when it is purged, and I can breathe without coughing. I'm sooooooo dying to get back to rowing and running!

Solunar -pertaining to or listing the rising and setting times of the sun and moon, phases of the moon, eclipses, etc Did not know this!
Solstice Eve...the longest day!
Or, the shortest, if you're on the Aussie/NZL side of the IDL ! Yep, Baz and Tomo, Dave, Angelo and Bernie will see the sun at 7 AM and sunset just before 5 PM. Up in Alaska, Cathie and Sam are close to 24 hours of daylight with sunrise at 4:18 AM and sunset at 1:48 AM (whoa). Sacramento, CA and Ormond Beach, FL will both enjoy more daylight with their later sunset of 830 pm ....and in the mountains of Colorado....we have snowfall. Trail Ridge Road is closed...again. Eh? It's not delimited by the international date line.Kona2 wrote: Or, the shortest, if you're on the Aussie/NZL side of the IDL !
The dividing line is the equator.
For the northern hemisphere the sun is directly above the tropic of cancer at its zenith on the longest day.
For the southern hemisphere the longest day is 21st Dec when the sun is directly over the tropic of capricorn.
The equinoxes occur when the sun is above the equator at its zenith and the whole world gets twelve hours of daylight/twelve hours of night.
Anyway, enough geekiness, lets all have fun rowing 21K tomorrow.
IDL
Yep, dividing line is the equator...but it's already June 21 in Aussieland...and they are having shorter daylight in the southern hemisphere than in the northern hemisphere. It's all good -- we like geekiness -- and definitely have fun rowing the Sostice Rows! Woot!
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
I'm back (she says, red-faced). I wanted to tell you folks that, despite my recent months of non-rowing, I always checked in on the board and knew you guys and my rower would be ready for me again when I was ready to climb on. Like so many folks (I'm guessing--or is everyone here always on top of things?), life got in the way in the past several months (mother-in-law with long cancer and dementia, protracted legal issues, father with three brain surgeries, son announcing a soon-to-happen wedding). While I *knew* that I'd be able to cope better if I kept exercising, I didn't do what I knew I should do. I just walked past the Concept2 each day and tried to avoid looking at it.
But, I'm back and happy to be rowing again, albeit with low meters. Happy "start of summer" to all, no matter where you are. I'm hoping that I'm able to continue this (it's already feeling better) and the season change to fall finds me still rowing.

Your location shows Paradise, CA. Is that the incorporated town of Paradise in the western Sierra foothills or the unincorporated development called Paradise on the east slope, a few miles north of Bishop?ukalady wrote:

I'm just curious, since there are only a few folks here in the Eastern Sierra region that have indoor rowers.

Hi fellow lunatics...
We are off on our Northern Adventure in a couple of days, Friday actually, but finishing work tomorrow, TomO finishes school on Thursday (they play Rugby all day Thursday – why didn’t my parents send me to a school like that! )... Janet is ready to go!
‘The Landy’ will be following a similar route to last year’s with some slight variations, tracking to far-western Queensland before heading northwards towards the warmer weather that the Gulf provides at this time of year... And like last year ‘The Landy’ will be writing a blog and updating with photos along the way, and if you’re inclined you’ll be able to track its progress and check in on the blog at the following links...
Must say I’ve been a little light-on on the rowing front recently, plenty of weight training, but must say I’m a little ‘exercised’ out, so looking forward to the break. We’re taking the bikes and I’m hoping to ride parts of the trip...
