When I was 55, I pulled 6:29.7 at 12 SPI and high drag, without even preparing for it, and even so, not rowing very well.

I suppose that's my last bench mark.

I now row well (13 SPI) at low drag (120 df.).

I am now preparing to race.

If nothing is actual except racing, and if training is an opportunity to get better, all training is "virtual."

Racing never made anyone any better.

It is easy to get fit.

Lots of folks in and around rowing are fit.

What is difficult is to learn to row well.

No veteran has ever rowed well, much less a 60s veteran.

60s veterans miss it by eight seconds per 500, 65 watts, etc.

Will you be accepting the bet, or can I tune back in when I'm 80 to see the FM results?

Bets have nothing to do with rowing.

How's your rowing these days?

12K OTErg just before dawn--under the roof of a pavilion in a local park, in the pouring rain.

Felled trees, and then sawed and split wood most of the afternoon.

I don't row at all. My erging is just fine, thanks for asking. Not frequent but erging isn't my focus. I am still willing to post that 500 at 1:34/r32 video if you are. You know, the one you lied about videotaping a couple months ago? Post it and mine will follow. It will be fun, people can rip our techniques apart. I would take it as constructive criticism, how would you accept others tearing apart your perfect technique?

Touche' ... I was implying (but did not specifically state) that your "proof" would be current. Since you claim to erg daily thay would suggest details of some thing up to 7 days old.

You seem to think that a 5-10 year old result combined with new details is progress.

Over the years, I have posted videos regularly.

I don't know, maybe twenty-five or so.

I just posted one a couple of weeks ago.

For veterans, the issue on technique is effectiveness and efficiency, not "looks."

The 60s lwt FM WR is 2:00 pace.

If FM trials are done in and around 25 spm, that means that no 60s lwt has ever pulled much more than 8 SPI for a FM.

Rowing well is 13 SPI.

Sure, when I am fully prepared, I might indeed pull 1:34 @ 32 spm (13 SPI) for 2K.

But it has no relation whatsoever to what anyone my age and weight has ever done.

No veteran (50+) has ever rowed well, much less a 60s veteran.

60s veterans miss it by eight seconds per 500m, a mile over 60min, 65 watts, etc.

60s lwts pull 1:44 @ 32 spm, not 1:34 @ 32 spm.

Um, your last bench mark was 7:02.3. Congrats on that. It was awsome!

And yet you've never managed to post a video that you're not already much better than. How about you post a video that shows how good you actually are?

June 27, 2010: given that I was just out in my Fluid, doing 1:56 @ 31 spm. No one my age is rowing any better, including Dietz and Spousta, who, between them, have won the Head of the Charles a couple of dozen times.

July 27, 2010: --snip--I will race at the Head of the Charles next year in the Veterans race.

I'm not sure what videos have to do with how well I row.

I now pull a nice 1:42 @ 27 spm (12.3 SPI) in my distance rowing.

In the end, I think I'll do it for a HM.

That's so much better than anyone my age and weight has ever been that it is ridiculous.

11 seconds per 500m?

LIAR!

Is that another vPB? Are you really claiming a 1:11:43.8 for HM (21097m)?

You can't row better than 1:45 for 2K therefore you can't row 1:42 for 5K, so I'm amazed that you can do it for more than four times that distance.

Perhaps the lies should stop now!

Nothing - they only show how badly you used to row, apparently. And yet you've posted 25 of them.
