Unfortunately won't be rowing anymore. The new rower (despite cautiously rowing few meters) has aggrevated my achilles. Feels like someone trying to cut my foot off with a rusty knife. Dr says I gotta stop :(, he said my body is telling me something -I think I know what it's saying.

So back to the slopes and the skierg, it's a shame because a combo of both was one heck of a workout for a while.

Good luck everyone!

Before I'd give up on it, I'd ask C2 - and check out the UK blogs - how to adapt the machine (or hold your leg) so that it doesn't aggravate the Achilles tendon...

Where is the darn spell checker on this thing??

Have been rowing 10 years before the achilles problem, so don't give the rowing up easily. Had tried many things, including rowing with just the one leg. Wasn't the best, but an option. I had been pain free for quite a while before I started using the new rower, so was surprised at the immediate return of the pain.

The UK site makes for interesting reading, seems quite a few people with achilles injury from running take up the rower??? Had been feeling it was just me. For my experience, any rowing - even low intensity results in sharp burning pain, despite the fact I have been stretching my strecthing excercises etc beforehand.

Been off the erg for a while. 2 months ago I found out that my thyroid gland has gone ballistic. Kind of explained sub par performance despite good training and a few other things like tremor and weight loss despite consistent acts of gluttony. A month ago I swallowed some radioactive iodine to destroy the thing but I'm still hyper. Taking beta blockers to feel normal but still jumpy. My Doc told me not to push it so although I might exercise a little it will be a while before I take any challenges or contribute much to the team.
