RowIt

Post by Researcher » May 25th, 2011, 11:19 am

Hello Scott,
Thanks for the RowIt application. I looked into using the PMI software but realised that we couldn't obtain HR data.
Then discovered your application generates excel files.... and does all that I need except I would like to follow the recovery of the heart rate back to resting rate after exercise. You program appear to trigger the collection of the data including the HR data on the pull stroke. Is there any possibility that you could add an additional column that collects heart rate at a fixed time interval until a stop button is pressed, or file closed?
I am using the rowing machine to compare elite athletes to those not involved in competitive sport and this recovery time data would be really useful.
Not to worry if you have too much going on.... thanks for the RowIt 1.1
Cheerio,
Richard

It's using the CSAFE interface to get the HR data from the PM3/PM4. That data is only available when you're rowing an active workout.

You could set the PM3/PM4 for a ten minute workout, row one stroke (to get the workout running) then just press the buttons to keep the monitor alive while the ten minutes runs down to zero, that might get what you want (I've not tried it). It would be horribly tedious pressing buttons to keep the monitor alive just to collect some HR data.

You may also get what you want with a workout programmed as intervals. The clock runs while you're resting between intervals, but again I'm not sure whether your HR data will appear on the CSAFE interface.

So the practical answer is probably that it's not available.
