Ranger's training thread
Re: Ranger's training thread
I miss ranger almost as much as finding a long hair in a cold cup of gravy.
To make up for ranger being gone for a week, I may watch the movie "Liar, Liar" with Jim Carrey this weekend.

Can you imagine if no one follows him to the UK blog he will be faced to look at this page as we chunter away merrily. He would look like a dickensian street urchin, face pressed up against the glass looking in a sweet shop window at christmas! Mwhahahahaha!

Re: Ranger's training thread
Yes, things are pretty dull without our intrepid hero. Who says Michigan isn't an exciting place to live? A raccoon has moved into our boat house and she is acting like it is hers.
What does this have to do with training? About as much as separated levers, natural stroking power, 13 spi, etc.
I did a pleasant 20K on the river this morning and took the photo of the raccoon when I returned to the boat house.
Last night I made chicken sandwiches and brussel sprouts for dinner. Have you ever met anyone who actually likes brussel sprouts? Here is my recipe: spray with olive oil and bake for 1/2 hour at 400 degrees. Remove, sprinkle with dried cranberries, nuts such as walnuts, pecans, etc. I made a dressing with cranberry juice, red wine vinegar, honey, and mustard. Put those on and bake for 10 minutes or more.
Hang in there and be strong everybody. In less in a week we'll be hearing right on schedule, delighted with that, a 6:16 2K, a FM@1:48 coming up, my HOCR stroke, etc. .

They are delicious if properly cooked and very fresh. They taste bad a few days after being picked.Byron Drachman wrote:Have you ever met anyone who actually likes brussel sprouts?

You are being generous and I think extremely naive. I'd put a lot of money on it being intentional. Ranger has shown time and time again that he just wants reactions and attention and this is one of his tried and true methods.Citroen wrote:I think he's coding thetags by hand. I absolutely love brussel sprouts - but only lightly steamed with a smear of butter.
Yours do look very appetising though.
Cheers,

I think you are on the right track. There may be limitations to his technical competence. I certainly have plenty of my own. But, in his case, I often suspect that it is just being used as a false front.Nosmo wrote:You are being generous and I think extremely naive. I'd put a lot of money on it being intentional. Re: Ranger's training thread
I hate frozen Brussels truly horrid things. Love fresh ones microwaved with next to no water in the pot. I'm the only person in my house who eats the "rotten things" (as they are described by everyone else). The only downside is that the post-Brussels gastric emissions are a force to reckoned with.KevJGK wrote:Hi ByronByron Drachman wrote:Have you ever met anyone who actually likes brussel sprouts?

Well, yes, but they would make great preparation for a crepitation contest:Citroen wrote:The only downside is that the post-Brussels gastric emissions are a force to reckoned with.

I suppose a diet of brussel sprouts might help our intrepid hero when he enters (and wins) the HOCR this fall. As he is heading for the finish line, a good flutterblast might provide the extra jet propulsion to give him the gold.
Has anyone else noticed how sophisticated and classy this thread has become since our hero is in exile?

Yeah this would be a good time just to lock it, and/or just delete the whole thing, it's just a waste of hard drive space.Gus wrote:Even without ranger this thread is full of bs...
No doubt another thread will spring up anyway......
PS. I like brussel sprouts, but then again I'm English by birth and I was brought up on organic brussels that were covered in these tiny black flies between the layers you couldn't get off so they got boiled and eaten as well. We are all slightly eccentric !

2 slightly beaten eggs
1 1/2 c. soft bread crumbs (2 slices)
1 (10 3/4 oz.) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1/2 c. shredded cheddar cheese

Cook Brussels Sprouts according to package directions; drain. Cut sprouts into fourths and set aside. Combine eggs, half the crumbs, soup, cheese, onion, and dash pepper. Fold in brussels sprouts. Transfer to a 1 1/2-quart casserole. Combine remaining crumbs and butter; sprinkle atop sprouts. Bake uncovered in a 350 degree oven for 35 minutes. Makes 6-8 servings. --www.cooks.com.

Your recipe fails for me. You MUST use fresh fart berries. Frozen fart berries don't pass muster.jliddil wrote: 2 (10 oz.) pkgs. frozen Brussels sprouts

What wine with brussels sprouts? Or should it be beer? Newcastle Brown works for me....
