Well, I might do several FM trials, but sure, when all is said and done with these trials, if I can't do 1:48 for a FM, I can't do 6:16 for 2K.

Excellent, a real line in the sand! Now, what do you mean by "these" trials? Are there some sort of bounds to this effort, or will "these" trials continue until you're 114?

Not to worry, Paul. The trials will be done and all the hwt 60's records will be set by our hero in less than two weeks. And don't forget that he is going to win the HOCR this year. What excitement! I can hardly wait.

Then I will get back to "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" rowing at 26 spm and a threshold HR in order to prepare for 60min, 10K, and 30min trials. Then I will be ready for some AT training (e.g., 4 x 2K) to prepare for 5K and 6K trials. I think I should be able to get all of this training and racing in by the end of the indoor rowing season, April 30th. If I am successful in this training and racing, by April 30th, I should hold all of the 60s hwt WRs from 5K to a FM. Then, at the end of April, it might be interesting to do an at-home 2K trial to see if I can beat do better than Hendershott's 6:24. After that, all of my rowing will be OTW.

In rangermath several is a number very close to zero.

This schedule has been slowed down somewhat by dropping the drag down to 95 df., which has taken some getting used to.

But beside that, the training is coming along very nicely.

No problem at all.

I am delighted with it.

It is clear that my lowering of the drag is a major advance, too.

Drives are quicker; ratios are larger.

It's easier--and more elegant.

Given that I am now rowing at 32 spm in training, it might be very easy to do all of the distance trials in short shrift.

I would just need to put a clock on what I am doing already.

Yep. And then the DF will go up again and the whole 'learning' process will begin all over again.

And let's not even talk about learning to row OTW. I mean, just imagine the possibilities for our star pupil: the 'DF' will change depending on temperature, salinity, flow rate, wind, rigging, colour of shorts, type of hat, shoes, moon phase, etc. etc. etc.

No, see, first you have to stop taking so many breaks, and THEN put a clock on it. Otherwise you could already show us your PM4 memory for your daily workouts. There's always a clock ticking, even when you'd rather ignore it.

How about:
I will set my monitor on a distance and will row the meters down to zero.

GET IT? "WILL" instead of "WOULD"
Novel idea.... "POINTING TO THE BLEACHERS" just like The Babe used to.

Fiendishly complex though... for a mild-mannered professor from Gotham.
:D

What's your next learning quest?
Boat colors?
When do you abandon the FM stuff? Door County time, no doubt!

This was my last day of class until September.

Ah.

My first try at a FM, I think, should be at 1:52.

That would be a pb and a 60s hwt WR by two seconds per 500m.

A FM at 1:52 would also give me a good baseline on my HR over the full 42K distance.

I would hope that this 1:52 would come out to be no more than top-end UT2, 145 bpm, steady state.

Then, I could give the distance two more tries.

A second try at 1:50.

And then a third try at 1:48.

No.

The low drag is now great, perfectly natural.

I now row well at low drag.

See what I mean?

"should be" not "will be"... indicates no intention whatsoever to actually complete an uninterrupted FM.

No " shoulds "...

I think I can do my first FM trial (at 1:52) this week.

Then I would still have a good bit of time before the end of the month for a couple more FM trials.

"My wife and I are not going to Door County until the end of May."

So the FM quest ends at the end of May.
Then what?
Long sits on the erg on top of the bluff watching vid's of EE?
