70% HRR, I decided at the time.NavHaz, on 4 Feb 2009, on the UK Forum wrote:
Here's a 6:58.5 r22 from today with an average HR of 143. I couldn't quite keep peak HR below 150 for the entire piece. Maybe I could have had I not done 30' on the elliptical and lifted upper-body weights prior to it.
That definitely is a UT2 HR for me. And whereas I believe HR comparisons between individuals are mostly worthless, IMO there is something to be said for comparing the data from like pieces under like conditions with yourself. Here my HR was quite a bit lower over the entire 2k r22 than it was a year ago at the same pace and an average r24. To me, this suggests rather better baseline fitness....

There are indeed demonstrations. Tell us: How many times have you spit the bit in the past two years?ranger wrote:My fitness is great.

Now you're telling us that 2k times and HRR percentages are a linear relationship? Very interesting.ranger wrote:If you can do a 7:00/1:45 2K at 80% HRR, you can pull sub -6:30.
80% of 375 watts = 300 watts.

Here is a clip of Nik back in 2004 with Big G and a host of others I have had the pleasure to meet, George Meredith (somebody you havent mentioned), Pete Marsden, my mate Andy Brown etcranger wrote:So, what is Nik doing these days?Navigation Hazard wrote:There is nothing new under the sun. He is only 40 years old.
I didn't start rowing until I was 50.
I didn't race until I was 52.

Not everyone can do recoveries. Poor technique on the recovery, a frequent problem among self-taught rowers, can cause injury of the hip flexors and that would feel like a double hernia.Ranger wrote:April 13, 2011: Anyone can do recoveries. Almost no one can row well (with their drives).

No, I haven't been hurt by recoveries.Byron Drachman wrote:Not everyone can do recoveries. I have been hurt by poor leverage at the footplate on my left side, given the high rate (30+ spm), low drag (95 df.), and high stroking power (12 SPI).
I now know the source of the difficulty, though.
So I am correcting the problem and preventing further damage.

So, Nav.
What is your maxHR?
What is your resting HR?
Given this, what is 160 bpm in terms of %HRR?

My anaerobic threshold, top-end UT1, is 87% HRR.
I can row for 60min at top-end UT1.
60min is done at 2K + 10.
