LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Well I've got something to celebrate this morning, I did a PB over 10,000M in a 37:58.9, and takes my standing to 82/977. Surprised myself, I thought I could take 15/20 sconds off, did the last 2,000m in sub 7 minutes, legs now like jelly and time for a lie down.
Must say, I take inspiration from the team, owe something to the breathing exercises I've been doing, and of course Vegemite! Janet is making me a vegmeite roll as I write....
Cheers, BBB

Jim and Bobbie K have added an upcoming event !
We're sending best pre-race wishes to Barbara on the eve of the Boston Marathon! Barbara has provided her race bib number 21857 for us to use to track her. There are a couple of ways to do this: (1) go to the website http://www.baa.org on race day and enter the bib number, and/or (2) follow her via text alerts using AT&T's athlete alert (US phones only). Info on the athlete alert (I signed on for this one) is at http://www.baa.org/races/boston-maratho ... alert.aspx Alerts are provided at the 10K, Half Marathon, 30K and the Finish Line. Woot! Have asked her to see if she can get a friend with a cellphone camera to take a pre-race photo that we can post here -- with all that's going on tomorrow, might be a bit much to ask! Still, if you don't ask, you won't get.
Personal Best for Baz !

BOSTON – Kenya's Geoffrey Mutai has won the Boston Marathon in an unofficial 2 hours, 3 minutes, 2 seconds — the fastest marathon ever run.
The previous best of 2:03:59 was by Haile Gebrselassie in Berlin 2008. Because of the differences in courses and wind conditions, there isn't an official world record in marathons.
Mutai's mark is almost three minutes better than the course record set just last year by Robert Kiprono Cheruiyot.
Barb Grandberg, of the Luna-Tics rowing team, won the women's race, outsprinting American Desiree Davila to win in an unofficial time of 2 hours, 22 minutes, 36 seconds
