Why didn't you wear your HR belt when you took the video? Afraid of what it might show?

You're a clown, a coward, and a liar. :D

This doesn't make any sense. It was you who said you would do a video of 50 strokes at 40 spm. Look here's the quote again.
ranger wrote: I'll do a video with 50 strokes tomorrow morning after I am warmed up and rowing well.
So either you can't do it or you are the bozo for stating that you would do it. Which one is it?

So what is the maximal length of videos that can be uploaded on utube?

The site now says that I can do videos of more than 15min.

How much more?

The thing to do now to show you folks how things are going is to upload videos of 1K, 2K, 5K, 6K, 30min, 10K, etc., 1:46 @ 26 spm, 95 df., with HR data, showing the steady state effort, middlin' UT1, as I work toward a FM.

2K of this FM stroke would be about what I paddled for 2K at BIRC 2010 to win the 55s lwt bronze.

5K would beat the best 60 lwt 5K this year and would be better that either Mike VB or Rocket Roy can row for 5K.

6K would be three seconds per 500m under the 60s lwt 6K WR.

60min would equal the 50s and 60s _heavyweight_ 60 min WRs and would best the 60s lwt 60min WR for by six seconds per 500m.

Etc.

All of these with a middlin' UT1 HR, steady state.

1:46 @ 26 spm for the FM as a whole would beat Matthias' Open lwt FM WR of 2:29:56.

It would best the 60s hwt FM WR by eight seconds per 500m.

It would best the 60s lwt FM WR by fourteen seconds per 500m.

I would guess that youtubes max length of video is much longer than you can row without a break...

In the video I posted, it was interesting to see that, just rowing along easily, stroking lightly, at 95 df., a couple of strokes came out to be as good as 12 SPI (1:45 @ 25 spm).

Nice.

It would be spectacular to be able to pull along at 12 SPI (95 df., rowing easily, stroking lightly) in my distance rowing.

Mike--

Post a force curve of your FM stroke, 1:58 @ 23 spm, 120 df.

Let's see what you are doing.

I'll post videos of 1K and 2K with my FM stroke, 1:46 @ 26 spm, 95 df., this weekend.

Then I'll post videos of 5K and 6K next week.

Uh huh.

With the monitor showing a flat HR of 155, no doubt. Don't forget to wear your belt, this time!

My card in my camera went out....
Seriously... For a replacement... I only have a small (demo)card that came w/the camera...when I first bought it.
I'll try though...
It won't be video.. just still shots...

As I've said. I do not go for big initial peak force...23-25 would be about right for spms...
Df would be 108-110 .. if I ever did decide to do a marathon again... which I won't... It's a waste of time to try to max at 26 miles when my goal is to max at 3 miles....

Think back to when you ran...
Did Rono run marathons flat out to train for his WR at 5k? No. You'd have to go back to Zatopek to find an era when men could race well at all distances... the early years when people were much slower across the board.
My marathon times would have won races in the time of Clarence Demar... not today!

It's the same with sculling.... and erging.... You need to specialize to win...

IMO: You are wasting your time with this FM stuff... if.. your intent is to do your best among peers at 5k OTW...

at a modest 26 spm
IND_V?????

No way. Never. Unh-Unh. Nyet.
