Hi all, there's some awsome rowing going on here. Congrats to all the people doing half and full marathons.Kona2 wrote:4 LUNA-TICS Virtual Club 10,956,472 105 104,347

Whoa...things are heating up in the battle of the ergs!!
There are no half marathons for me yet. The meters listed were acumulated over two days time.
I hope to someday work up to a half marathon, but an hour at a time is all I can handle for now.
I will be leaving for my vacation on friday and won't be back till after the challenge is over. So unless I can find room for the erg in the van i will not be able to contribute any meters after Thursday.
I will be rooting for all of you and will be keeping up with whats going on.
You guys are a great inspiration for me and I hope to be a member of this team for a long time.
Thanks,
Dan S
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
No metres from me today I’m afraid, seems I have got a (wretched) stomach bug of some kind. Thought it was just muscle fatigue yesterday, aching muscles and the like, got home from work, Janet fed me (I get looked after far too well – thanks Janet! ) went to bed and slept for about 12 hours...
See how I pull up tomorrow!

Hope you are on the mend It in uncanny the way your muscles "telegraph" an upcoming illness. Last night my legs were "dead" and this morning I woke up with a head cold. I read some where that if your cold systems remain in your throat or above it is "safe" to exercise, so hopefully I can keep going.
Ron
So you had "dead" legs last night? Sorry about your cold. But you don't let much slow you down. What a rower!!
Back in high school we used to "give" dead legs to each other by delivering a hard punch to the center of the quad. If you did it right the dead leg would last for about 2 days! And somehow we thought it was hilarious. We learned never to sit or stand with our quads exposed.
Now we row forever to keep such things from happening - and it works! How things change with age.
Maybe if you run a marathon out in all that snow you got, your head cold will blow away.

Row well, and LIVE! Ben Hur

Whoop, whoop! Every single day we add just a few more rowers to the grand total of rowers rowing in this year's challenge. It would be great if we could shoot for at least 90 percent participation from those who signed up on our team to row this challenge. That means we need to have 95 rowers rowing. Right now we have 91 rowers rowing. Of course, I will ask for 95 percent once we get to 90 percent! Today's magic TOP TEN PERCENT number is any cumulative amount greather than 184,991 m.

days left...in the 2011 Rowing Season !
We are so close to gathering in another one million meter per person team average for this season. With 24/25 days to go, we need 4,035,564 m to reach that milestone. So while you're adding to your winning season, we thank you for making our season a winning one, too! Plenty of time to continue on the path to rowing glory here in the 2011 rowing season...and just think....Concept2 is kicking off the 2012 Rowing Season with the Global Marathon Challenge. Whew! And if marathoning just isn't something you personally want to pursue - we have many other things to help you celebrate!
Just to provide visibility to what some teammates will be doing in addition to some rowing, here's the list as I know it. Kapn Kristine usually has a running or walking marathon that she'll do, and we've had lots of canoe and bicycling excursions throughout the years. Would be great to celebrate your exercise accomplishments - whatever they're going to be!

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Jan, I like your idea for the "other activities" roster. I've got one committed target so far: 2 Bear Marathon, 9/11/11.

No Wimps for Two Bear
Hah! The website for Two Bear has a graphic for "No Wimps" by its race results! That will be quite the historic date! I like the description of how the marathon came to be:
Three intrepid marathoners (only one of whom had a vague sense of direction), armed with topo maps, a GPS, and bear spray, spent the better part of the summer and fall of 2004 getting lost in the Stillwater State Forest. Eventually, however, they accomplished their goal and mapped out a challenging, scenic course for a marathon. Next, they chose a weekend when the fall colors were at their peak, and the Two Bear Marathon was born.

Thanks for the thoughts...to be honest I have no energy and suspect it will take a few days to get over it fully, by the time it goes and I get back to full strength. I had something similar a few months back, and must say it is so frustrating!!
Not so long ago I would have trudged on, and made it worse, these days I figure you’re better sitting it out and getting back quicker!!
Cheers, BBB
