do you have to row an exact 21,907 meters for it to qualify as a half marathon?

Yes

Congrats on your half marathon!

I set 21,097 (as opposed to 907) as one of my "favorite" workouts on the monitor and start from there, counting down. (I find it, strangely, much harder to "just row" and count up.) Once I get down to 10K, I know I'm on the home stretch! Also, if you've set the distance ahead of time, it can count as a ranked workout.

Hmm, i think i know what i did wrong. i did the Just row instead of setting 21,097 as a custom distance. that's probably the problem
oh well, it was good practice for me to do anyway :)
plus the xtra meters helps the team for the challenge

It's a FIRST HALF MARATHON

Image Hooyah ! Congratulations, James G, on completing your first half moon.... a half marathon plus some!

When you next row a half marathon, if you input the 21,097 m, then upon completion you will receive your downloadable certificate...that's a relatively new feature, but cool stuff !

Good to know. (I recently discovered that 500 is apparently the max number you can have in the instant watch queue!) Having some challenges with streaming ... maybe need to upgrade from DSL to fibre optic, see if that stops all the rebuffering.

An Explanation of the Moons: LUNA-Tic Distance Awards

Hey Enrage,
Don't feel bad. When I first joined the Luna-Tics, I saw all these moons and half moons for people and I thought it was for rowing over 40,000 or 20,000 M. So, the first time I rowed 20,000 M, I expected to get a half moon and was bummed out when I did'nt. I then went back through the past entries and had a Homer Simpson Moment -DUH :?
Ron
It really happened this way....The moons are a fun LUNA-Tics recognition thing. They were created primarily to remedy two kinds of situations: (1) team members would row a single session with additional meters for warm up or cool down (like enrage did) - and not get an award; and (2) team members would row multiple sessions that would add up to a LOT of meters (and occasionally happen to land on pretty close to an official distance) - and not get an award. And we're all about celebrating accomplishments...so we made some awards up!

The distance awards of half marathon and full marathon that Concept2 has are based on an exact number of meters rowed in a
single rowing session. Concept2 award distances are specific meter amounts that make it possible to rank the accomplishment for any individual rowing that distance anywhere in the world. We discussed on this forum that individuals who completed enough meters to qualify (or more than qualify) for a half marathon distance, etc., deserved some recognition - whether the accumulated meters were done in a single rowing session or multiple rowing sessions. How many times folks have started out to do a full marathon, and had to stop at less....but it was a single session!!! Or start out just rowing, and end up rowing enough for an award distance?? Moose was the one to suggest that we use half-moons for half-marathons, and full moons for full marathons. Red giants were so named by Minnie for those distances of 50K or greater. We've had occasion (Kiba!) to call out the supernova for distances of 100,000 m or more in a 24 hour period. This, of course, was when we learned of the Kiba pizza energy food.

Here's what I post about our distances a few times a year:

A word or two of explanation for those perusing the team forum:

Image a supernova designates that the individual has rowed the equivalent of 100,000 m in a 24 hr period (yep....we have one who does this)
Image a red giant designates that the individual has rowed the equivalent or more of 50,000 m in a 24 hr period
Imagea full moon designates that the individual has rowed the equivalent or more of a full marathon 42,195 m in a 24 hr period
Image a half moon designates that the individual has rowed the equivalent or more of a half marathon 21,097 m in a 24 hr period

Half or full marathons are completed in one rowing session of the exact distance of 21,097 m or 42,195 m.

Way to row, Lunies! There are some truly outstanding meter accumulations happening in this final team challenge of the year as team members work towards individual meter goals while adding to our team totals! Today's ten percent mark is 175,400 m. Still time to change that ranking up if you want to improve it!
