Sure, but my goal during sharpening is to do a 17:00 5K at the beginning of each session.

In the fall of 2003, I did 17:30 for 5K at the beginning of each of my sharpening sessions.

Yet now you can't best 18 min for 5K ... at any pace/rate/spi/weight you choose ... so Mike is better.

What is it about "Mike" being better? Do you have a brother named Mike? Is your department head named Mike? Is it just bad luck???

I did this after two crummy 400's ~ they stank.
None the less: 1:35.6 @ 35 is rowing well when you weigh 162 lbs as I do... Consider the watts per kilo factor...and that I am not a spring chicken... as you still are
I don't see the point of this sort of thing at all.

I suppose we'll see.

A FM @ 1:48 is 8.5 x 5K @ 18:00 (no rest), HR middlin' UT1.

A FM is done at 5K + 9.

1:48 will be my target for the FM when I do a FM trial in a month or so.

ranger,

Why are you running scared? If sharpening is worth 12 seconds over a 2K it must be worth around 30 seconds over 5K. That means you could sit on the erg right now and pull a 17:30 without even preparing for it.

Except you can't. Why is that?

I think because he needs to take frequent breaks to "think" about this incredible stroke of his ... it is so great it brings tears to his eyes and he can't see the beauty of his force curve.

ranger,

That was then. Today, Mike rows "weller" than you. A lot "weller".

Based upon your current results and the way you train, this will not be any different anytime soon.

Mission accomplished ... by Mike.

Just who is that?

Can't be you. You do not have 3 WR rows. Your crazy train derailed a LONG time ago.

Sure, no problem.

But for 5K, my target is 16:30, not 17:30.

I will try to get there by working down from FM, to HM, to 60min, to 10K, to 30min, and to 6K trials.

That has to be the knockout blow!

Even you have to agree that's it, it's all over - game, set & match?

Mike is much better than you.

End of story.

No?
Do you actually think ranger would admit anything? What have you been smoking?

Hey, I admit all sorts of stuff.

For instance, I've admitted that I am the best ever--repeatedly.

:D :D

I've admitted that my training is right on track for 6:16 at 60.

I've admitted that I am much better than I was back in 2003.

I've admitted that I now row well at low drag.

I've admitted that my coach is the best in the world.

Dang!

I've admitted so much!

What else is there?

Well that must be another and rather obvious and stupid lie. All your world records were soft, have been beaten and you don't hold any at any distance. ipso facto there are plenty out there better than you. So you're just a posturing prick.

Anyway, back to your 17:30 5K. I bet you $500 you can't post one in the next seven days (with HR data of course).

You may be the "best ever", but you've not told us what it is that you're "best ever" at. Two things you're not "best ever" at are 1. poetry professor (we've all read the "rate my prof" reports) and 2. rower (7:02 @ BIRC and crashed OTW).

Best ever "paranoid schizophrenic lying narcissist drunk internet troll" could be a title that you can adopt.
