I'm wondering when we'll see the lesser spotted 'In the fall' appear this season. Can't be long now...

Yea, I don't like to give up eating.

Food is one of the joys of the good life.

So, when I want to get lean, I do what I am doing now.

I burn 6000 calories a day in exercise.

:D :D

That does the trick.

Weight control is simple.

Calories in, calories out.

Really?

2006 Euro champs -- [well] beaten into fourth place. Reason given (by you): poor weight/diet management.

2010 BIRC -- [well] beaten into third place. 7:02 vs a predicted 6:16. Reason given (by you): poor weight/diet management.

etc.

Also, given that you are frequently tired following a 20K erg/20K bike duathlon, how do you propose to ramp your training by 200% over a matter of days?

Well, as we go forward from here, you can make your boxes out of my pbs.

Back in 2002-2003, they were these:

100K 6:47
FM 2:40.15
HM ?
60min 166692
10K 35:41
30min 8480
6K 20:57
5K 17:10
2K 6:27.5
1K 3:07
500m ?

I am _much_ better than that now.

So now that my training is done and I am again preparing to race, this time, rowing well (13 SPI) at low drag (108 df.), it will be fun updating these pbs.

Well...

... formulaically, they all predict both one another and 2K.

....
A FM is just UT2 rowing, really.
In order to test formulae you need data.

Where's the data?

BTW: ONCE AGAIN YOU SCORE HIGH ON THE TROLL PERFORMANCE SCALE...
You didn't answer the point of whether it's necessary or even desirable to RACE a FM... to get a great 2k score.

You blather on this subject is beside that point.... as usual.

Rich: You don't sincerely want to talk about my training because it has results. You'd prefer to speak of yours, which doesn't.

ranger wrote:Mike--

So, what's your UT2 pace?

If UT2 is 2K +15, as the IP plan suggests, your UT2 pace should be 1:58.

Why futz around with a FM?

Well...

If you could lower your UT2 pace to 1:49, you could pull 1:34/6:16 for 2K rather than 1:43/6:52.

You're not interested?

Hey.

To each his own.

But you should consider this:

You won't ever get better over 2K without improving your effectiveness and efficiency while rowing relative to your aerobic capacity, your UT2 score.

There are no short cuts.

I know Maths isn't your strong point, but given you can't do 1x10k @ 1:48, I wouldn't worry about doing the 4.
You don't know anything of the sort.

Rich the sun came up this morning.. I didn't see it... How do I really know it's up?
:? :?

Rich: You have not posted a 1x10k @ 1:48 because you cannot do it. You have a (null set) track record) No performances: Not in 2009, Not in 2010, & not this year...

Understand?

One by one, all the "i'll just record things on JUST ROW" super heros are dropping out of site.. Why is this?
IND_V is too easy to accomplish on any workout... You won't do one. You are hiding your training data because it will show you to be incapable of what you say you are able to do easily.

My work on technique is done.

My stroke is now great (12 SPI, etc.) at 108 df.

I am delighted with it.

So I am now preparing to race a FM.

Once the FM is done, the other distance rows can be done very quickly.

They are shorter but don't require much more training to prepare for.

For me, the FM is the post in the water.

The FM is the base--steady state, UT2.

Everything anyone would want to know about my potential 2K can be read off of what I will do for a FM.

A FM is done at 2K + 14.

UT2 is 2K + 15.

BTW, my FM training is coming along great.

I am building up to "ulta" sessions: 3 x 60min on the erg followed by 3 x 60min on the bike.

No, a FM is not just about racing it.

A good FM requires some preparation.

Or at least it does for me.

You seem to equate racing and training.

I don't.

I'll do "ultra" sessions for a month or so before I race a FM.

Why should I train like you?

When you train, you only need to work hard and long (of which you seem to like neither).

Putting your training on a clock is counterproductive.

It parades your strengths, rather than works on your weaknesses.

So you just get worse and worse.

I don't race my training--for good reason.

To each his own.

I _do_ race my races, though, as you will see.

If you use your training to work on your weaknesses you get better.

Mike--

I did three hours of training this morning.

I am pushing that up to six hours a day over the next month.
