Hi, I'm grams. I amd 63, and have been erging for about 2 1/2 years.

Thanks to my C2 Model D (named the Music Machine) I lost 30 pounds the first five months of erging. I had to give away all of my clothes and buy a new wardrobe 4 sizes smaller. My self esteem shot up, and I started to believe I could do more on the erg and in life too.

I joined the Nonathlon and worked my way through all of the events as a heavyweight and then did it all over again as a lightweight. What fun!!

Long slow sessions are my bag. I try to do at least 2 marathons a year. Not very many 60+ ladies post times for a half or full marathon, so its easy to look good in the standings.

I have 5 children and 6 grandchildren and assorted sports injuries. We travel and work at home after retiring from our 'real' careers.

My 'bio' web page, with pictures is at: http://www.lowtechwebs.com/erging/ontheroad.htm

I'd love to hear from everyone who enjoys erging and life in all its complexities.

grams

The real motivation was that I wanted to make myself a custom Marathon t-shirt, wearing it to my grandson's regattas, and impress all of his friends. Rowing is something special we share. Its cool.

grams

Grams started the team earlier this week and so far, there are just the two of us. Any other women out there in this age group are certainly welcome to join.

I am a 61 year old wife, mother and grandmother. My husband decided we need more exercise, especially with all this snow and cold weather we get here in the Adirondacks, so he got the rower. I'm so glad he did because we are both enjoying it. We started rowing the end of October and I'm gradually working towards my first million

Loonylady

If they leave their current team, that team will lose all of their metres, so maybe some people are just waiting for the start of a new season. I've still got another 22 years to go before I "qualify" for your team, but it's great to see another women's team out there!

Shannon
Some women might feel like they'd be letting there current teams down by bailing on them right now, especially with only few months to go for the season. I've got 12 more years to go before I'd qualify.

I'll wager Divas' numbers will kick up when the new season starts.

--Jen

Not to worry. You will all be able to join eventually....

I knew when I started a new club that it might be better to wait till April, however there are an incredible number of ladies checking the forum during the challenge so I decided to strike while the iron was hot.

And by April I will be on the road in the southwest with my erg and my hubby for 5 weeks. I'll take my trusty laptop, however I don't have a satellite connection to the net.

12,000 meters to go today to finish the challenge for me. Its time for some fast loud music. I think ZZTop and REO Speedwagon.

grams

Grams, you are enthusiasm personified!

Good point about potential new team members--with that article in the Winter C2 Update, you're probably right about some newbies surfing around and looking for a team to land on.

REO's from the area of Champaign/Urbana, IL, where I lived for about 20 years.

--Jen
