Ranger's training thread
Re: Ranger's training thread
I'm so confused by today's posts...is 12spi at 108 df rowing well, or is 13spi at 119df rowing well?
I just can't keep all the numbers straight!

Ranger is like Humpty Dumpty in that respect, "rowing well" means whatever he wants it to mean, nothing less and nothing more.atklein90 wrote:I'm so confused by today's posts...is 12spi at 108 df rowing well, or is 13spi at 119df rowing well?

"it means just what I choose it to mean, nothing less, and nothing more."

For a FM?atklein90 wrote:I'm so confused by today's posts...is 12spi at 108 df rowing well, or is 13spi at 119df rowing well?

It's 12 SPI at 108 df.
I suppose that this is trading some rate and drag for pace, but, hey, who wouldn't, if it gets you what you want and need?
12 SPI is so much better than any 60s lwt has ever been able to stroke along at for a FM that it is incredibly, amazingly, astonishingly, bizarrely, just out there, spectacularly, whhhhhhaaaaa-hoooingly, _GOOD_, what can I say?
Lovin' it.
Most 60s lwts row at 9 SPI.
The 60s lwt FM WR is 2:00/2:48.
My target is 1:48/2:32, sixteen _minutes_ better.
Are you kiddin' me?
Nope.

And my target is to bang Angelina Jolie then go out drinking with Brad Pitt and his hollywood buddies. There is a far greater chance of me hitting my target tonight than you ever achieving yours.

Hey, if you were training to row 16 _minutes_ under the 30s heavyweight FM WR, you would be training to row 1:21 pace for 2.5 hours.
Good luck with it!

Back in 2003, when I was 52 years old, pulling at max drag, not know how to row, rowing like shit, I did the _3rd_ 10K of my FM trial at 1:48.MRapp wrote:And my target is to bang Angelina Jolie then go out drinking with Brad Pitt and his hollywood buddies. Hmm.
Sure, that was more than a bit too exhuberant, given my skills at the time, but, hey, it showed some promise, no?
With equally bad rowing, that year, I broke the 2K WR in my age and weight division three times on three consecutive rows.

I am _much_ better than that now.
I now row well (13 SPI) at low drag (108 df.).

The 2K WR in your age and weight category is 5:35.
So how are you doing?

Hey, I'll buzz Angelina and put in a good word for you.MRapp wrote:And my target is to bang Angelina Jolie then go out drinking with Brad Pitt and his hollywood buddies. There is a far greater chance of me hitting my target tonight than you ever achieving yours.
Maybe Brad won't mind.
Then again, Brad is a pretty tough dude, at least in his Hollywood personas.
For instance, I wouldn't want to meet up with him on the plains of Troy.
The meeting could turn out badly.

And yet, the odds are in my favor that I will do it long before you do.ranger wrote:atklein90--

I'd even bet you on that, but looking at your historical ability to own up to a debt, I don't think I'd ever see the money.

Re: Ranger's training thread
Yes, we've heard that several thousand times. Over 9000 and counting to be exact. It would be interesting to have one screenshot of 2+ strokes mixed in every 10,000 posts or so. Didn't you promise a video this morning you lying piece of trash? How about posting that old video of the 1:34/r32 you promised us before throwing a temper tantrum a 5 year old would be proud of? You have it on YouTube (unless you're lying which I guarantee is the case), you could easily just paste the link here to prove me a fool.ranger wrote:I am _much_ better than that now.

Row 50 seconds off the 2K WR for my age and weight, like you're trying to do?
Yikes.
For me, that would be 7:30.
My target is 6:16.

I'm hoping I can go sub 6:20 in the next 30 days.
How about we make a bet? I bet I'll break 6:20 before you do. I'd put ANY amount of money on it, but you would never pay up. So how about a gentlemens bet of $1.
Remember, I don't row well (according to your definition) and I've only been using this as a form of exercise for about 15 months now, so I'm still very much a newbie.

Actually, in reality, Brad is kind of a puss. He's about your size. It's almost laughable.ranger wrote:Hey, I'll buzz Angelina and put in a good word for you.MRapp wrote:And my target is to bang Angelina Jolie then go out drinking with Brad Pitt and his hollywood buddies.
