Ranger's training thread
Re: Ranger's training thread
When I am "Steamrollering," that is my stroke.
I take 1500 or so of these strokes a day, which covers about 20K.
That's the stroke that I will use to do the 10 x 2K (1 minute rest) session.
Let's see yours.

Rch:
You have got to be kidding!
1:30 of rowing?
That's not the "Steamroller" that you've been talking about.
You readers need answers not "one stroke wonders"
Remember:

?!
FOR THE STEAMROLLER WORKOUT PLEASE.
BTW: It would be off-topic to discuss my achievements and goals here, on your training thread. You know that!
You have even said: "Don't parade you strengths here".
I want to see your training in detail.. You know the format.
Thanks.

Let's focus on these on at a time. Then we'll move to the next topic.ranger wrote: Stroking power.
What is your "stroking power" for the 10x2k/1:00 rest you've been doing everyday? I am puzzled. I don't know what it is.
You saw mine, just as you requested.
Thanks.

Re: Ranger's training thread
May we make a distinction between one's training plan and one's training as done?ranger wrote:Mike--
I have given you my training plan.
Anyone can plan; not everyone can execute.
It does not seem that you are listening to me very carefully. Please try harder.
Here we go, AGAIN:
Can you transcribe or take a photo please? Evidently not.the indefatigable one wrote:On your PM4 screen touch the button next to:

then follow this with touching:
☸ MEMORY
all you have to do is press (+) next to the workout in question
this will then bring up a screen of your recent sessions.
You get the ideaThe ☸ MEMORY will show the average pace(s) achieved in the workout
Maybe you don't you use a monitor in your training sessions any longer and simple intuit your overall pace/stroke rate/drag factor/duration? That would be fascinating! What a skill!
It seems as if you want us to go on "more or less" as well as "ultimate goal" rather than what you actually do.
That does not satisfy me, however. I am sorry but would consider being an obliging sort of person for a short time?
Re: Ranger's training thread
Let's focus on your training:
Did you take this today instead of providing the requested info.?
you rowed for 1:30 and covered 365 meters that's an average pace of 2:03.3/500m...
Do you you really mean to say that "_all_ of (your) rowing" is like that? I assume you just got one stroke you liked then called it quits.
Do you know what would be more convincing? I bet you do-oo
Row until you get an AVERAGE pace that you feel is representative of _all_ of your rowing.....
How about 20k? How about 10x2k/1:00 rests?
Ok! That's a "goal" ..Do 1x2k all by itself at 23 spm under AT (instead)... THAT SHOULD BE SOMETHING EASILY ACHIEVED, COMPADRE...
One thing I suggest you watch: IMO your HR isn't behaving as you've advertised. Your at 1:45 pace & 126 bpm....>>>>>> That is pretty darn low for someone who claims to have a MAX HR of 190 bpm. Why, it nearly matches mine and my max is about 164 bpm.
Have you considered seeing a sports med. professional? Be careful with that big heart of yours!

Anyway: Here's my analysisranger wrote: My stroke looks like this, pretty much every time.
My stroke now looks like this in _all_ of my rowing

You were doing fine with this response until you hit:ranger wrote:Sure.mikvan52 wrote:Let's focus on these one at a time. Then we'll move to the next topic.
But to make sense, the discussion has to be orderly, too.
Planning precedes training.
So, what is your training plan?
And what is its rationale?
And where are you now in working through it?
I have given you mine, its rationale, and where I am in working through it.
" and where I am in working through it."
You have not given us that.
Where are you in working through your training plan?
In your daily Steamroller 2k
2:10 average pace? (just kidding) You show it.
Why not comply with this simple request. What are you hiding? Sloth? Injury? Modesty?
On your PM4 screen touch the button next to:
☸ MORE OPTIONS
then follow this with touching:
☸ MEMORY
this will then bring up a screen of your recent sessions.
You get the idea

Then hit the (+) key to get the entire stats from each workout.
Re: Ranger's training thread
Mike--
As you know from your OTW rowing, it doesn't do you any good at all to do faster rowing and train your anaerobic capacities, heck, even your aerobic capacities, if you aren't habituated and relaxed with a mechanically and technically effective and efficient stroke. If you do, you'll just waste your physiological and skeletal-motor resources. You'll just train yourself to be slow.
It's _rate_ that draws on your aerobic capacity, not technique.
As you master technique, you can get more and more speed for free.
Your advances don't draw on aerobic capacity at all.
They just use your available aerobic capacity more effectively and efficiently.

Put simply the "Training" results posted here from Ranger do not match those in the memory of the PM4 monitor.
