At the CRASH-Bs today, I rowed a 6:43.6, 8.3 seconds faster than my previous PB.

I had planned to row between 1:41 and 1:42 for the first 1500m and then see what was left. The plan seemed to work, although I have never experienced time passing as slowly as it did in the first 500m. I have no recollection of the middle 1000m, but apparently my splits never wavered from 1:41. In the last 500m, the nice race official coxed me, kept telling me that I was a machine, and in the last 100m, counted down the strokes for me. I think he saved my a$$.
Very Nice Greg ! That is quite the accomplishment, both in the raw time, and in the improvement.

Lowered my pb for a 500 today by 2.4" to a 1:37 which is still pretty sad, but it was after a huge volume week for me (including a HM yesterday) and an hour hard bike ride earlier today (my first in about a year).

Nice work, Greg!
I hope to join you in the 6:40s in 2011.

On the way to that goal, I set a new personal best today in 2,000 meters: 6:54.3. Splits were 1:42.7; 1:43.4; 1:44.6; 1:43.7. The 3rd 500 is still sagging.

Smoked my 10k pb today after setting a pb for 500m yesterday.

39:31 vs old mark of 40:30

HR started in the 120s and steadily built to max of 168. What I find interesting is that in cycling I normally would hit a high HR much earlier and then stay fairly steady with a slow rise. I can't figure out why I start low and build so much. My initial thought was that it was because I pushed the pace but that isn't it. My splits were all within a tenth of a second of each other.

Oh well, if you insist.....

I bettered myself on the 60 minutes. I got 14.546 meters, was 14.163 a month or two ago. You guys are all pulling 15-16 k, but I am very happy with this!

About four months ago I started up erging again, about 2 hours per week in total. I am really enjoying the experience!

Thanks Bill!

So, what should I work on now? How much faster do you think I can go?

As I'm sure you've figured out, the improvements are going to be harder and harder to come by. However, if you keep at it I'm sure you can get down to sub 6:30.

I'd recommend figuring out where your weaknesses are and focusing on them for a bit. Based on your times it definitely looks like you're better on the distance side. Maybe incorporate some weights or hard sprints?

PB Project Update:

What's the project: Get all my ranked pieces up to about the 90th percentile.

This week's objective: new PB for 500m (was 1:33.8)
Result: 1:32.3 (76th percentile  )

All the really ugly details here: http://concept2.co.uk/forum/blog.php?u=11746&b=82743

Suffice it to say, it took two attempts. The first one was a misguided quest to break 1:30, which ended in disaster. The second, more sensibly aimed at 1:32, and succeeded. There is more to get here. I shall return.

Next up: Either I will do this one again, and do it right, or I will take on the 30', which is currently slower than my 1 hour time!

Took off almost 2 seconds from my 2k time. New PB = 6:58.2 (was 6:59.9 a month ago).

A month ago my strategy was 1:44/1:45/1:45/1:44. I ended up rowing too many 1:46s in the 3rd 500m. This time my strategy was 1:45/1:44.5/1:44/1:43. I managed to keep the nr of 1:46s to a minimum, but I didn't bring the split down to 1:43 in the last 500m. Too exhausted.
