Rats. We will have to do a repeat celebration of 97 MM team meters....Brian has left the building, and we wish him well - whenever and wherever he rows. That said, we're still in orbit....just not at the same point in space. :D

That's the beauty of each day - we get to start over again. "...forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal...". You've rowed a long way, Danno, but not all the water has gone under your oars quite yet. Thanks for setting the pace!

There are many times when a team member offers up just the right words. Thanks for these, Ross! The quote seems very relevant today. Another day of adventure awaits! Another day where rowing can be a steadying point in the whirlwinds of life!

ImageImageImage Million Team Meters

The numbers catch the eye, eh? Stunned amazement at 100 MM meters...and delight that we have four teammates returning to the lunar journey. Welcome Terri and Kenny H (of Mississippi), Rivka and Sarah (of Vancouver, CAN). We wish you many good rowing sessions and are glad to have you as part of our rowing community for as long as you wish to stay.

Image BTA = bunny trail of the mind alert

When I read on the team profile pages that two of our teammates recently relocated to Vancouver, CAN, I thought of the inukshuk (the stone structure in the likeness of a human figure)that stands at English Bay in Vancouver. One of the meanings attributed to the English Bay inukshuk is friendship and welcoming of the world. A more traditional meaning in the Inuit culture is "you are on the right path." All these meanings seem very appropos to the team! See the write up on inuksuit at http://www.inukshukgallery.com/inukshuk.html if you're interested in these stone figures.

Image
Inukshuk at English Bay, Vancouver, CAN

The second piece of the BTA was whether or not Yupiks were Inuits....and the answer is a resounding no....although both occupy the circumpolar region, the ethnologies are different. The third thing was how difficult it is to relocate, and the work involved to feel like you "fit into" a new culture, or a new team.

And now for something you'll really like....the stats:

Season meters as of 290/365 = 100,377,889 m

Total meters on the day = 3,710,780 m BONANZA!

Oars in space (participation) = 31 percent

Thank you for the warm welcome to the team. Sarah and I were here for a short while and have been part of 3 teams this season. We enjoyed Jim's Overcoming Disabilities team and had fun there. We understand he is trying to keep the team small so he can handle the stats. The TimbukTOO team was very mean, pushy, uncaring, bad feelings all around. We hated it. The Luna-Tics forum is fun to read and we enjoy the community here. With so many of Jim's family here, it is a good sign to us.
As you may have read in our bios, Sarah and I are amputees due to an explosive device going off in the cafe we were in. It has been difficult for us, but it is nice to be back home. Therapy is hard but working. Sarah doesn't speak yet due to PTSD, but we know it will come. Sorry to whine about our troubles to such an upbeat team.
We really do hope to stay here this time.

I don't consider what you related to us as "whining". On the contrary it shows the wonderful inner strength you have to be doing what you are doing. We often share our triumphs and our troubles on this site and I think you will always find us most willing to listen and to help in any way we can.
