Welcome to Yolanda! Always great to have another gal in the boat to fend off all the testosterone. :)

I think we need to have a virtual party for when John hits 5MM!! :D

And a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to our Cap'n for his 2MM!!! Woot, woot!
So, if you were out on the trail, that makes you "out-standing" rather than "upstanding."

If you'd see me wrung out after a workout, you wouldn't say anything about testosterone. You'd be able to fend me off with a feather on the end of a toothpick.

Having done 2, I know how amazing 5MM is. So, make that virtual party, and pass the digital popcorn!

Aw, shucks... t'weren't nuthin'... However, once I'm up here, I'd like to thank my producer, my director, the folks at Concept 2, TimbukTOO, the webmaster, the downstairs neighbors for their tolerance...

We have some genuinely inspiring people on our team.
I do my best, but.... I am in the Minor Leagues compared to our heavy hitters.
Maybe by the time I turn 65 I will get into the Majors.

I had to shovel out after a 12" snow fall this week.
It took 90 minutes Tuesday night and another 75 on Wed. morning to get the driveway and sidewalk clear, and to create a path out from the deck and across the patio for the dogs.
So when I sat down to start to row this morning, I was sore and / or stiff in both old and new body parts- and during the 10 minutes I warmed up, I thought to myself- boy this really blows. How do I ever do this- it hurts. And so, I completed a slow 10 minute warmup and then moved to the ARC Trainer for a 45 minute workout, then finished up with a 5 minute erg sprint.
I could not get my pulse up above 122 on the ARC, which is unusual, and in the last 5 minutes on the erg, all I could get up to was about 132.
Apparently, the shoveling took a lot out of me.
I look forward to tomorrow- I'll do a 30 minute erg ( I hope ), then lift weights and do some light cardio.
Saturday will be my first day of hard rowing.
It's time to get back at it.

Thanks to Yisroel and Lisa for great captaining. Great rowing by all - I am really impressed! I really enjoyed the challenge and the motivation it brought me. I have joined the team full time and I am looking forward to the next challenge. I still have 8000 or so to log for the VTC as soon as I can get my computer down to my erg.

Welcome, Tom! I'm glad you decided to join our affiliation year-round! :) It's a fun group.

I know for me it makes all the difference between having a big, ugly piece of gray furniture in the living room and owning a well-used, dynamic piece of fitness equipment. Without participating in this team, I would lack any motivation and discipline to row.

Warm welcome from all of us, we're growing slowly and evenly...
I was proud and amazed - especially how many people participated - 42 of 43 rowed something, and about 2/3 did 100K or more! Wow!
Get those VTC meters in...

I am doing the Tour De Ski Erg challenge. Was happy with my fastest 5K EVER today despite it being 6am. Then I saw how I compared on the honors board....

Apparently I am not going to make the next winter Olympics. Happy to have lost 10lbs since Thanksgiving (pants now fit well),my blood pressure now normal!!!

Happy Friday, boat-mates! Can you believe it's February already? I think by rowing so hard in the VTC, we're all responsible for making time go faster, kinda like the opposite of when Superman flew around the world backwards and reversed time so he could save Lois... Yeah, OK, maybe not. Back to the topic at hand.

Friday's report: a steady 12 of 55 (22%) set hands to handles and logged 113,605 total meters. Even tho the VTC is over, many Too-ians still are actively keeping fit on their ergs!

Two shout-outs to our team-mates today: Jamie passed 900K and Glenn hit 450K. Congratulations!!

On the horizon: John is approaching 5.1M (-40,657m) (the man is unstoppable!), Yisroel is approaching 2.1M (-26,615m) (another force of nature to reckon with!), Jeff and Gary are both approaching 1.3M (-35,000m and -42,041m, respectively) (who will pass the mark first?!?), and Paul is approaching 300K (-7,392m). Row strong, men!

Posted Meters:
John S - 21,569 Six days of over 21k each!
Yisroel H - 17,615 Another powerful row from our Cap'n!
Glenn Y - 11,080 Done resting after the VTC? :)
Jeff S - 11,000 Continues his binary message to someone...
David W - 10,000 ... The secret to a good marriage ...
Yolanda W - 10,000 ... equal meters on the erg!! ...
Gary G - 6,487 Back in the saddle again!
Joel W - 6,382 Good consistent rows!
Paul E - 5,691
Jamie B - 5,000
Chris H - 5,000 (does it help to place the ski erg on a incline? :)
Fred B - 3,781

Once again I took advantage of the weather here (sorry, Rest Of America), and ran hill repeats. Then only thing nice I can say about THAT is the view from the top is pretty nice. Sort-of takes your mind off the fact that you're about to keel over....

Have a fun SuperBowl weekend all, and don't party too hard! Go Pack!!

I'm excited! I have a new Model E rowing machine (please don't call it an erg). Only been using it for a couple of days. It feels really nice and smooth.

I have a Model C in very good condition if anyone is interested. I will consider any reasonable offers.

Congrats on the new machine, Fred! It certainly looked cool from what I've seen of it. Keep us posted on how you like it.

And Jeff, thanks for correcting my typo... Sure don't know how that got by me! My proof-reading must be going to the dogs....

Hello everyone!

I haven't been round so much in the past couple of weeks due to a new job and house move, but I am happy to report that things have now appeared to settle down so I can contribute some more regular metres to the cause.

Congrats to everybody for the January challenge!

Hi Team!

I read the posts almost daily and I am continually encouraged by each one of you! What a wonderful team we have as a result of our collective commitment to encourage one another!

I continue to putter along on the erg as I make slow strides towards improving my own PB times. This weekend was one such time in which I beat both my 60" and 30" PB's! Very cool and now oh so very sore!

Hope each of you are as encouraged as I am in knowing that there are others out here struggling along side you to improve health and to enjoy life fully!

Best regards,

Matt
