I keep seeing people writing about "qualifying" for CRASH-B/WIRC. There is no qualifying requirement. Anyone can enter. Even someone as slow as ranger.

Yes, but ranger has said these past few years that he would only go if C2 paid his way, ie if he qualified at a satellite event. This doesn't quite gel with the fact that he's filthy rich  and managed to pay his own way to BIRC, only to row pitifully, and also drove to Indy and back for nothing, but there you have it.

Sure.

This year, if I don't qualify, I am going anyway, on my own coin.

I'll just drag my slow sorry ass there and try to do my best.

A change of heart? Wonderful news! Entry deadline is this Sunday, Feb. 6th, don't miss it.

About that "if I don't qualify" bit, how do you expect to qualify if you don't enter a satellite event? Are you racing in Cincinnati on the 13th after all? There's still time to sign up.

And remember, you have a race this Saturday in Detroit (non-satellite).

hey rangerboy, don't forget to register. looking forward to yet another abysmal failure as you demonstrate one more time your complete inability to perform - and the incompetence of your coach!

then again, given the lack of material your coach has to deal with, it may be unfair to blame the coach.

and, given the demonstrated idiocy of the coach, it's tough to blame rangerboy.

sigh.

Funny we're on page 616 of this sorry saga. It's the_only_616 this thread will ever see. :P

Why no Toronto race? That's_really_disappointing.

It's still snowing hard here but the roads will be all cleared by tomorrow.

It should be abundantly clear by now that the r(dot)cureton/cretin/{Bot} does not require sustenance to keep on posting :?

Let his rhyth-mysticy continue on forever! ........ "6:16 ~ forever ~ if"

BTW: I was over in Alexandria, Virginia, the other day to witness the satellite erg race there.
REAL COMPETITIORS were there: (SPOUSTA & SIEBACH & many others)... both erging times that ranger will never approach again.
Those of us posting here are only interested in the hype-o-thetical
and only mildly so for the great (but relatively mundane) performances by those who remain great.

Does trying to do your best include showing up but not doing the race?

I'll race in Cincinnati (rather than Cleveland, as I had planned).

Naw.

I think I'll beat Spousta at WIRC 2011.

I don't have to bother with Siebach (he is eight years younger than I am), although I think he will also be slower than I am now.

He is _certainly_ slower than I was when I was his age.

P.S. Why were you just "witnessing," rather than rowing?

I am getting in nice 60min bike rides after rowing, although I would like to stretch both my erg sessions and my bike sessions to two hours.

Anyway, the biking is keeping my weight down.
