Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Wish I could contribute some meters but I am still out here in training. I have been running 15 miles a day and training for rescues out of helicopters. Lots of excitement! I am sure all this work will help me as a paramedic. We get many calls of injured hikers, boaters, climbers, etc. and I feel I will be fully prepared for helping them now. I am glad i had been rowing so much. The pushups, pullups, running, climbing isn't as bad for me as it is for some of the others.
Go Luna-Tics, sorry I can't add as you try for third place.

Thanks for the update, Ray! You're in one of the leading ArMOONda boats....so I think you're continuing to help guide us towards that third place milestone!
And....wouldn't you know it....there's ANOTHER team challenge that starts on March 15th....always an opportunity to contribute!

Virtual Team Challenge: teammates 6 years old and younger
I'm looking at the numbers and I would like to petition that we change the Junior canoe paddle award level for those teammates who are 6 and under. I suggest that we make the number of meters required to receive their LUNA-tic canoe paddle from 75,000 m to 50,000 m for these teammates.
Re: All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 1.30.11
I must say quite a hot/humid night in Sydney, and I think I only got about 500 metres this morning (4.30am) before the sweat was pouring out! Supposed to be up around a 100 today....(making excuses for missing this afternoon’s row already! )..Kona2 wrote: Shiver me timbers and get out the winter headgear! And what a great effort on the challenge, an oar-some performance by the team, and some solid individual numbers have been cranked out.
And whilst our Northern Hemisphere friends are racing towards the finish line, I’d like to propose an (enormous) toast to both K2 and AJ for the great graphics and encouragement during the challenge. It is no doubt time consuming, but your commitment to it and the team is appreciated.....in fact were over the moon about it (well almost over the moon)
Cheers BBB

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Yes, I know I have learned a lot about what kids who are 6 and under can and can't do with some effort - particularly in this challenge. It seems that those who have worked on rowing just about every single day - and have come up with 50K - should definitely get a canoe paddle! I marvel that we can even get them on the rowing machine that consistently ! I don't think we need anyone's permission to give them a canoe paddle - we just need to do as we are doing and communicate the "why" it is happening. It's definitely not a take away from other kids who have worked really hard to get to the 75K...but they are older kids!

Seems my email program is doing a subpar job of notifying me when there is a new post. So mass congratulation to all the mile-stone makers, to many to name but ou know who you are. And welcome to all new comers.
Just a quick observation on seat cushions. I have tried everything and so far the best solution is a 14.5" x 9.5" x 4" piece of memory foam. It seems a little weird when you first sit down but by the time you have strapped your feet in it has compressed and gives a comfortable yet solid base to sit on. I also cover it with a small towel. Hope this helps.
You guys and gals are putting up some amazing numbers for this challenge! Wish I had been available for the whole thing.

That sounds like it is worth a try. I,m OK on short rows but when I get up to half marathon and more the SB syndrome definitely kicks in. Do you know where to buy just a plain piece of foam. On the web all I can seem to find are sources for mattress covers, pillows, etc,
Ron
I bought mine a furniture upolstery shop. It was just a few dollars.

Picking up on what BAZ is saying, . . .
Here are examples of one day 'oar-some', 80K+ performances:
Jay, 92,040 meters on January 14th
Chip, 89,824 meters on January 21st
Ray, 88,111 meters on January 14th
Cathie, 86,000 meters on January 27th
Ron, 82,091 meters on January 29th
HOOYAH!
To compliment our teammates 80K+ rowing, they are in the newly launched LUNAtic boats designed for the oceans
