Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Hi Team TimbukTOO,
I've just managed to start rowing again this month & although I'm afraid my total metres won't be spectacular, I hope I can add a few more to the team. It looks like there's a great atmosphere here & I hope we can keep that up till the end of the challenge.
By the way, I don't know if there's been some kind of IT error this morning, but hasn't the team total just dropped by a whopping ONE MILLION metres?? I really hope it's a mistake, but if not, I guess we'll just have to row even harder.
All the best,
Paul

I noticed that too Paul - it seemsthat our three top rowers who recently joined the team have suddenly dissapeared.

Joe.....congrats your past inspires and the desire for more normalcy in my life after a stroke.....keep rowing. Tyrone hope those floods down under are leaving you unscathed. Paul noticed also the drop in meters...I wonder if all the switching of Teams has now been managed by reality instead of virtual.....at 59 I'm not use to the see sawing ....anyway good to see you back in to the swing of things.
I want to take this moment to thank-everyone who is TRULY a Team member.....your accomplishments have been the catalyst to stir my recovery, I started late October of 2010 and had a set back but was able to continue late November and am quite pleased with my ability to participate.

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
This team challenge is just what I need to get me to working out on the Concept 2's daily. Been taking it fairly easy with one hour workouts pretty much this past week going for power sets throughout the row. Been sitting on bubble wrap to cushion my butt.... my poor "tailbone" is so sore!!! Want to try another 1/2 marathon next week to see if I can beat my last time. If anything, between the Christmas Challenge and this I've gotten back to my pre-thanksgiving weight!!
Will be missing in action the 20-24th so am trying to get all the meters in I can....

Deja vu, all over again regarding our recent team losses. Izz seems a bit late in getting back online, so I'll post yesterday's meters in a few minutes.

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
A whole lotta rowing done today! 21 of 56 members logged 368,438 total meters (38% oars in the water). Sadly, Elton Giogri, Rivka Levitt, and Sarah Hallbeck left the team after meters were captured. This report still lists their accomplishments. We're sorry to see them go. Best wishes to them wherever they dock.
A whole bunch of milestones achieved today!!! John hit 4.7M, Joseph hit 1.5M, Casey hit 600K, Rivka hit 600K, Tyrone hit 500K, Chris hit 500K, Joel hit 400K, Glenn hit 250K, Paul hit 200K, Mark hit 200K. Congratulations to all!

Re: VTC Progress....
Again, this snapshot was taken before the loss of our 3 teammates. With the loss of their meters, we have dropped back to 13th place, but don't lose heart! We are still very much in the hunt!! Less than 200k behind the UK Rowers. Let's view this as an opportunity instead of a setback. That's what the 'C' in 'VTC' is -- Challenge!!!
A big welcome to Paul E to the VTC team!!
28 of 46 members (61%) logged 429,814 total meters between Friday and Saturday evenings. Some seriously great participation going on in these here waters.... Row team, Row!

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Thanks, Lisa, for posting everything! My wife is home this week, and she has first rights to my attention. And today I've been tired - "good" tired, but tired nevertheless - after beating my personal best in the 10K this morning by an additional :28.8 seconds! New mark: 36:15.6, 12th in my age group, up from 24th. Then a 2K cooldown... then 2 hard 1Ks... then a half hour at 125-128 heart rate, covering 7,618m.
So now that Lisa has posted yesterday's meters, here's my two cents:
Firstly, I'm disappointed. People popping on for two days and then disappearing does nothing for us, and nothing for them. Joining a team is supposed to be positive all around: Motivate others, and get motivated. This kind of dilettante behavior is unsettling for them, upsetting for us. They have earned the fearsome Izzy Gimlet Eye (using the one not covered by the eye patch).
As to TimbukTOOians, our big push has closed the Affiliation's half million meter deficit with Team Canada, and moved us up to 11th. As to Team TimbukTWO, Pat's, we are now closer to 12th Place UK Rowers than to Team KTMTalk.com, who we moved down to 14th! 5 million is still doable, but it will need a full team effort! Amazing!
Some of the impressive numbers: Dennis did over 189K in the past week! John did about 155K, David W 107K, Jamie 71K, Glenn (who has rowed every single challenge day) 59K, etc. Sorry if I didn't notice your numbers, but some of these are eye-popping. Just the fact that a 43 member team already has 20 people at or above 100K is astonishing!
Let's keep rocking and rowing!

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
As you know, 3 members have jumped ship: Elton, Rivka & Sarah. R&S have been TimbukTOOians 3 times, Elton twice in the past two months. At this rate, we look forward to their becoming members of our team another 12-18 times over the next year!
The good news is, we've passed Team Canada to take possession of 11th Place!
17 of our 53 esteemed members (32%) have logged a meaty 200,480 total meters, frightening wildlife for miles - I mean, kilometers - around!
Milestones achieved: Dennis amazingly reached 700K, Daiva achieved 450K, and Alison, despite a torn ligament in her hand, hit 350K!
Steamrolling through: Fred is one row from 800K (-3,606m), Everett near 700K (-10,917), Lisa is flying towards 350K (-17,462m), Doug is soon crossing (MotoCrossing?) 350K threshold (-21,419m), and Berrnie is 6,771m from 100K!
Last week's Frequent Rowers (Sun 1/9 through Sat 1/15):
David W, Glenn Y - 7
Dennis H, Jamie B, John S - 6
Doug E, Joseph W, Matthew R - 5
Chris H, Daiva S, Fred B, Gary G, Jeff S, Lisa H, Mark S, Tyrone P & Yis H - 4

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Finally got back on the erg this morning after a long weekend of moving, and I have to say I am psyched! Instead of rowing in a drab basement, we have it in a nice bright room with two big windows and a TV mounted between them. It must be motivating, because I rowed at o'gawd thirty this morning much faster than I ever did at the same time on a basement row.
