Virtual Reality: Day 11/12

Post by Kona2 » January 11th, 2011, 11:46 am

How cool is it that we not only have THREE teammates (Ray, Jay, Cathie) in the top ten individual rowers, but TWO additional are former Lunas (Jim and Samuel)...now honorary Lunas! What's even sweeter is that we have a father-daughter (Samuel and Cathie), and a father-son (Jim and Jay) in the top ten of this Virtual Challenge. I don't remember that being true in previous challenges. Hooboy! I know they are cheering each other onward as we also cheer them onward!

We've eclipsed one-third of the VTC.....that means we still have 20 days in which to row, row, row! Don't let your canoe wander aimlessly.....go get that paddle! Pull the Armoonda into the lead!

Post by Kona2 » January 11th, 2011, 2:06 pm

What a lucky day today will be! Image ImageImage ImageImage

Image To the moon....how many more DAYS?!

The extraordinary amounts of meters currently being generated by THIS team mean that it's quite possible that we'll be on our final approach to the Sea of Tranquility landing base around the time of the Valentine Challenge....in order for us to call this our lunar landing year, we have to maintain the requisite number of meters until the end of the rowing year on 30 April 2011 ! Anticipation abounds !!

Season meters as of 245/365 = 74,755,339 m

Total meters on the day = 1,223,093 m (852,093 m plus one new team member!)

That's a great idea, and another great motivator, K2! At the moment, I'm kinda nervous that your Tweety Bird is going to take a jump, and get all tangled up in my way-cool hair.

You guys! Made me snort my afternoon tea in a very un-Pebbles-like way ... too funny. (Can Kristine's white doves take down Jan's Tweety and save her from a bad hair day? Inquiring minds, etc. ... )

LUNA-TICS Virtual Team Challenge

Post by DUCKMARX » January 11th, 2011, 4:58 pm

Our astrogator loves playing with numbers:

earlier it was . . .
77,777

then it was . . .
88,888

now it's . . .
11
1,111

(. . . or maybe it's something that she picked up from Kaylee or Mario or . . . Tony . . or . . . Johnny . . or . . . Ron! It's a repeating number epidemic! :D )

Congratulations, David A, on achieving 100,000 m (and more) in the Virtual Team Challenge. May your canoe travel swiftly towards the 200K mark so you can grab a paddle!
Very nice. :D
As I have always just joined you for the virtual challenges, I assumed I was just going to get a generic canoeist. I was then going send a PM to AJ to see if I could get a kippah or a cap. What a wonderful surprise to see that I got the full treatment - with beard and cap. :D Thank you very much.

I hadn't joined the team full-time, as I felt I obligated to stay with my university team, especially as I had started it. When the teams first started there weren't as many virtual teams, and I didn't belong to any kind of club. My university, where I first rowed, wasn't on the list, so I had it added.
1) There have never been many people on the team, which is okay, but there has also never been much of any interaction with those who post meters on-line.
2) You have too much fun in here.
3) I have always wanted to go to the moon.
4) I am quite loony - just ask anyone in my family.
so I have decided to join you year-round.
