Thanks for the welcomes and encouragement, folks.

Bazzy, hopefully you are clear of the flooding we've seen on the news.

Trying to "bank some meters" while I have a flexible schedule this week. Start teaching spring semester classes next week.

I've only been rowing since the end of December 2010. ...

Personal fitness goals for 2011:
Get weight down to the 160 lb I was in college as a varsity saber fencer long, long ago.
Row at least 2,000,000m by 31 Dec 2011.
Row a 5000m piece within 10% of my son's time.
Johnny,

Welcome to the Lunatics. You have certainly joined the right team. Those goals of yours are easily attainable with the motivation, inspiration, and cheerleading you'll find here from all the Loonies. Glad to have you aboard! Looks like you'll help get us to the moon sooner with that 2,000,000meters by Dec.

I'm being recruited, but so far I'm holding my allegiance to the Lunatics. I love you guys! My real world rowing team (New Haven Rowing Club) set up a team for the JVC this year. They are holding their own quite nicely. They only have 41 members and currently are in 17th place. I'm proud of my NHRCs, but I'm still a Loonie!

Thanks Johnny, Sydney is a long way from the flood affected areas of Queensland, although being a ‘North Queenslander’ (grew up near Cairns) I am taking a keen interest.....

They say the amount of Queensland presently covered in flood waters equates to an area larger than the combined land mass of England and France........

Wow, Karyn, you are in a tough spot there. I'm so glad you are staying with us. We really would miss you around here if you went with them.

And thanks for joining the team, Johnny, and giving such a nice intro here. Glad to have you aboard. Is your son a Luna-Tic as well?

Maybe your NHRC friends would enjoy being on the Lunatics. There's plenty more room in the lunar canoe! :)

Karyn, Kristine, and others:
Thanks again for the welcomes and encouragement. I'm gonna keep chipping away at the meters.

Kristine,
My son hasn't signed up yet, but hopefully he will soon.

Karyn,
You must right that this group is special for not just accepting, but expecting you to be looney. I'm going to like it here.

Good weekend to all....off the ERG today, as I have developed some tightness in the forearm over the past few sessions and can’t shake it, so to speak.. Janet said that is my challenge this weekend...try and stay off the ERG!

Some great milestones being achieved, so congratulations to all....Row Strong!! ...and as an aside they say Cooper’s Stout is a great muscle relaxant....lucky me, I’ll drink a toast to you’all..!
