Hiya Fellow Loonies!

I've been off the erg and off line (most of the time) since Christmas. I was in Ireland with my daughter for my cousin's wedding and visiting the family. It was a great trip, but no erging was done. I hopped back on today. Just want to let you know that I enjoyed a real Hot Toddy (made with Jonny Powers Whiskey) along with a Magners (Irish alcoholic cider) on New Year's Eve and toasted my fellow Lunatics.

Happy New Years to All! Safe erging!

Karyn

At least now we know you're human, for a while there I thought you were bionic or something!! LOL

I have been place on the DL by my chiroprator 5 Lumbar and left SI joint went out Sunday AM just before I was going to get on the erg. Dagnabbit! Hopefully by the week-end. This is killing me.

Thanks Ron.

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 1.2.11

Post by Kona2 » January 3rd, 2011, 7:21 pm

ImageImageImage 69 Million Team Meters!!

Woohoo and hooyah! Congratulations, Lunies, on achieving a 69 million team meter season! Way to row!!!

Some amazing rowing going on - we rowed 621K in a day - and that's without adding any additional team members. Good to hear from Karyn, adventures in Ireland! Not so good news for you, Danno, hope you heal well soon! Lots of milestones being met and exceeded, and many are very close to some new milestones. In between this morning's almost posting and now, two additional teammates have passed the 100K mark and will be in the canoes shortly. Lots of celestial events going on in this team!

Season meters as of 247/365 = 69,045,428 m

Total meters on the day = 621,436 m

Oars in space (participation) = 32 percent

MILESTONES...Bragging Rights...Celebrations:

3.0 MM Ray
2.3 MM Jerry
1.7 MM Robyn
1.5 MM Katerina

FIVE Million Meter Watch:

Will S with (36,903 m) to go!

THREE Million Meter Watch:

Baz with (107,820 m) to go!

ONE Million Meter Watch:

Angelo with (72,844 m) to go!

Kristine with (81,697 m) to go!

Wowzer! Two red giants, two full moons, and NINE half moons! I'm thinking that it's all these folks who are bionic...not me!

Image Ray earns a red giant (> 50K in 24 hrs) while passing the 3 millionth meter milestone AND getting into the canoe.
Image Will S posts 55,000 m and earns a red giant...moves ever closer to the FIVE million meter mark.
Image Cathie posts 49,010 m (almost a red giant) and earns a full moon plus quite a lot.
Image Jerry earns a full moon plus some with a posting of 45,100 m
Image Minnie the Mooner goes overboard, watches a double feature, and rows 35,230 m....waaaay beyond her usual 21,097 m! Half moon plus a lot!
Image Jay rows 33,610 m....maybe more than he's ever rowed in a 24 hour period, and earns a half moon.
Image Baz with what is becoming a signature 30,000 m earns a half moon plus some!
Image Chip rows 27,251 m and earns a half moon!
Image Robyn 26,677 m is more than a half moon...but it's California moonin'
Image AJ with 22,735 m (found time in between graphics work!) earns a half moon and some team praise
Image Ron, who has now eclipsed the 100K virtual challenge meter mark, earns a half moon for the Vermont number gnomes and the 22,222 m :D
Image Kevin, our man in GBR, moons us! Fortunately, we all think this is a great distance! 22,000 m earns him his first Lunie half moon!
Image Dave H rows 21,197 m...for more than a half moon!

And thanks to all who rowed meters with us today - amazing - amazing - amazing!

Brayden 170 m
Ally 1,000 m
Ethan 1,050 m! Good rowing day!
Ashlee ImageImageImageImage m .... a double repeater :D
Kaylee 1,250 m...and only 2,871 m to the magic number of 333,333 !
Tonya 2,063 m....and only 15,391 to 200K! Thanks for the iPhone app info!
Dalton 4,012 m
Mario 4,097 m ! Wow!
Tris 4,300 m ... and only 122 m from 555,555 m! Quick! Go row 122 and enjoy that number magic!
Tony ImageImageImageImage m ...and only 2,171 m to 300K! :D
Brandy 4,766 m
Sorin 5,015 m
Bill L 5,017 m

Climbing into the canoe

Post by Kona2 » January 3rd, 2011, 7:36 pm

Two more Luna tribesmen have claimed their canoe characters....we are all members of the Luna tribe....just as we were all members of the Luna herd. If you've posted a profile picture, AJ has provided a likeness for your tribesman based on that photo. If no photo, then a generic tribesman is utilized. Each Tuesday during the challenge, the Lunas will be presented as their characters...some with paddles....others working on getting a paddle....but ALL working towards the Virtual Team Challenge! Way to row!

Had a giggle at Kona’s comment!! (Baz with what is becoming a signature 30,000m earns a half moon plus some!)

I will actually be taking a few days off before the end of the challenge to go away for a few days (surfing) with TomO and Janet.....so I need to ‘rack’ up the metres now!

I’ve kind of tricked ‘myself’ (isn’t hard) into the 30,000m at present. I do two 10,000m intervals in the morning with a 2 minute rest between each, ask myself why as I head to the shower, and when I get home from work I do another 10,000m, rationalising with myself it is only half what I did this morning so no problem (Irish logic from my Irish heritage I suspect). A good night’s sleep and I’ve forgotten the pain of it all and start over the next day!!!

Actually trying to build some endurance, and speed for the winter marathon kayak series, which are 20 kilometre races, and will use as a lead-up to the Avon Descent in August (130 kilometre kayak race over two days) and Hawkesbury Classic in October (111 kilometre kayak race). Well that is the plan anyway, and I must say I get inspiration to do it each day from my fellow Luna-tics – so a big thanks!!

Cheers BBB

Great rowing "Looneys" :D
We had an awful event happen here in Arkansas the other day. Over 5000 blackbirds fell from the sky . It is seriously a tragic and terrible event.
However, I am not pointing fingers, but could this have something to do with your preparatory plans for a lunar voyage?

Yeah :!: I heard there was also a big fish kill in one of the rivers too :( I hope it isn't us. It sounds like something out of the X Files. Hey your team is doing great-that per person average is VERYimpressive :!:

Thanks Ron, you guys are doing fantastic. Your numbers personally are awesome.
Yes, between the bird and fish kill, people here are very uncertain. Lots of explanations, but none definitive.

Delighted I was to find TWO additional canoes with a rower in them when checking the stats this AM! The Luna Tribe gathers for the canoe blessing, and wishes good speed, and safe travel, to all.

This is Jay. I am using my Dad's log in. I love the canoes and rowers in them. Jerry looks just like his picture. I am trying to row more than my Dad in this challenge. We compete against each other in most sports. I always used to beat him in cycling when he rode, but he still beats me in throwing for distance. I am determined to top him in this challenge.
I want a canoe!!!!!
Jay
