Great start to the JVC, Team! Let's go get 'em!

Welcome Ukalaldy
Mitch J
Mitch J
Thanks for the welcome! And a couple of questions...
You folks *are* a welcoming bunch. Thank you. I hope to be able to "add" value to this great group of like-minded rowers!
Just knowing I'd signed on with the LUNA-TICS helped motivate me to row today--since it's a holiday I figured I'd skip it and start tomorrow. But knowing I could help row us to the moon, I felt like I should do what I could so I put in my 30 minutes. And I feel better because of it. Thanks for the virtual "looking over my shoulder."
Now I'm off to un-decorate the Christmas tree. Well, at least the one here in the office. The one at home just got put up on Dec. 24 (yeah, a little procrastination issue) so it's gonna stay up until I'm tired of it. Clients, though, might think it odd to see a Christmas tree up in the office past Valentine's Day... ; )
Question 1: By the way, do any of you use the "Meters" app for iPhone/iPod ($1.99)? It's a "rower's logbook" and I love it 'cause it helps me keep track of my rowing (even uploads online direct to my logbook on the C2 site). Obviously if you use RowPro you don't need it, but I'm a Mac gal I like this app for its tracking functionality.
Question 2: Do my "lifetime" (which started as far as rowing is concerned in October!) meters in my C2 online logbook carry over to the spreadsheet kept by the team? I don't have many yet (181,522 m) but I want to get that first million in and I hope I can bring those pre-existing meters in to the total...if possible or fair, of course!

Virtual Team Challenge: Thru Day 1
Virtual canoes found quickly (am sure that some of the team rowed across the transition from 2010 to 2011 since we had meters before Ten Forward closed up shop!). Ray is very close to being first into the boat (need to hit 100K meters!). There are still additional canoes available....we can take on additional crew until January 15....sign on....sign on....sign on!
The link from your teams page to the Virtual Team Challenge standings is active! Check it out....and remember that we will have much volatility in rankings during the first two weeks of this challenge as teams add members, upload meters at least once a week, and find their team spirit. Row what you can, push yourself a bit, and stay healthy....these things are key to challenge rowing. We want you in our team boat for the long haul, and injuries are definitely not fun!

Re: Thanks for the welcome! And a couple of questions...
Hiya, Tonya: I don't know if anyone sent you a PM re your questions, but here's my two-cents worth.ukalady wrote: Question 1: ... do any of you use the "Meters" app for iPhone/iPod ($1.99)? ... 1. I simply use the C2Log card which came with the erg. (I download it as soon as I've finished my workout, but many, especially those who row at a gym, download whenever is convenient.) If you bought a previously owned C2, and the log card kit was AWOL, I'm sure you can buy it from our good friends at Concept2 online.
2. The affiliation page shows your current season's meters as 182,546, which indicates that all your meters for this season (albeit, lifetime meters for you!) are being counted. (Also being counted by our Astrogator-extraordinaire, Kona2.) Your lifetime meters are counted by Concept2 via your logbook, regardless of the rowing season, which is how you get the thrilling free stuff when you pass certain magic numbers.
Welcome. You're near Chico?

Happy New Year et all...
Hi Folks,
Just coming up for air following a pretty disrupted December/ Christmas/ New Year. I am sad that I missed out on the delightful evening you all spent on New Years eve... it seems that Minnie's talents with a drink or two served the team well!! Mine was spent in a bungalow in some of Sydney's bushland, with no fireworks, no television, no internet... but a friendly bottle of my fave whiskey, my wife (of course!) and some good friends. Not even a hangover the next day, so I must have been good!
Best wishes to all, and congrats to Dr Dan on his latest grand-child! We were informed by our eldest son on Christmas eve that we are now expectant grand-parents! Some words about us being too young to be grand-parents were ignored apparently, and we have about 6 months to adjust!
Good rowing to all - the January challenge is always my favourite... I have to knuckle down and turn in some serious (for me!) meters now!
Cheers from "down-under",
Dave

Virtual Team Challenge: Rowing into Day 3
The meters are flying fast and furious .... each time we think we've made a move, there's a countermove! There are some amazing stories playing out in this venue! Kudos to our rowing buddies in the Overcoming Disabilities Team....our average meters per team member pale in comparison to their efforts as they are steady in the number 7 spot of the rankings. Samuel J's experience of many years in boats is showing with some amazing meter amounts - hooboy! Row ODT, row!
Meanwhile, the Luna Crew's fleet of canoes is getting its first crew members into the canoes! As Luna team member Angelo's team profile reminds us, "it's not so important who starts the game, but who finishes it." Team spirit (and will) is an immeasurable beast....but we're calling on that immeasurable force that's within each of us to push the Luna canoes forward. Row inspired!

Woohoo! Three days in the virtual waters....and we have our first Luna tribesman into the virtual canoe! Congratulations, Ray, on achieving 100,000 m in the virtual challenge (thus far!). Nothing like climbing into the canoe AND celebrating THREE million meters all in the same day! Ray's virtual crewcut is great, AJ!
