Thanks Kristine for the advice. I will try this.
I had a knee replacement in June so I am still rehabbing. A drunk driver hit my car in May 1986 and my kneecap was crushed along with having 2 broken legs and pelvis. Eventually through wear and tear and age I had to have the knee replaced which I did this summer. They still weren't able to replace my knee cap so the artificial joint is set in a little differently than most. My doctor said it will probably take twice as long to be healed. I had to relearn to walk correctly because all those years I would compensate and put more weight on the leg with a knee cap. 25 years of walking wrong takes some undoing, but Jim corrects me when I start to sailor walk.lol Jim showed me a youtube video of the same surgery (after the surgery). If I had seen it before, oh dear, not sure I could have faced it. He had watched before my surgery. I think that is why he was so attentive to my every need.
Kona, forgive me for not posting as much as Jim and the others. I read the posts everyday and enjoy them. However after teaching 20 kids all day and coming home to 6-8 grandkids,a 57 year man who is playing with the grandkids at top decibel levels, and grading papers until 10, don't have much time. But believe me ,reading the posts is one of the most very enjoyable part of my day.

Princess Bobbie, I hope your rehab goes well. Sorry you are in pain. I know how it must hurt, but it will be better.

Sounds like you are one busy lady. Kudos to you for even being able to row at all! You definitely are having to work around some challenging issues. Just take it slow and easy, and don't overdo on the rower and make things worse. So sorry to hear the kind of accident that caused this. We are all cheering you on!

Image Image days to the start! Sign on...sign on....sign on.... :D

Yep, the northeast US is definitely getting snow-hammered...although maybe they'll get to dig out of all that snow pretty soon! Of course, snow clouds look to be building over Washington and Idaho today....Kristine might get walloped with another power outage! Headlamps will be ablaze!

Season meters as of 241/365 = 67,288,433 m

Total meters on the day = 320,959 m

Oars in space (participation) = 25 percent! Excellent!

MILESTONES...Bragging Rights...Celebrations:

2.8 MM Ray
2.7 MM Baz
1.5 MM Cathie
1.3 MM Peter G
1.2 MM Ted

THREE Million Meter Watch:

Ray with (171,789 m) to go! At the rate Ray's rowing, gotta start the countdown a little earlier so we can build suspense for more than three days!

ONE Million Meter Watch:

Kenneth G with (71,048 m) to go!

Image Baz's Australian moon shines on with 30,000 m
Image Cathie's Alaskan moon with a little extra Aurora borealis thrown in...29,489 m
Image Minnie the Mooner...and her California moonin'...shine on Minnie!
Image Ted with an almost half moon ...and 21,000 m
Image And, with some team to team recognition here, rumor has it that there was a moon over Mexico earlier today as Rosita completed her first ever rowing half marathon! 21,097 m

Lots of good rowing going on with this team! Meters and milestones everywhere! And, we've traded reindeer games for some fun number spins...countdowns and count ups! Pretty sure that I heard "Oh when the Saints go marching on...." coming from the tandem team from Mississippi....... Apparently my geography is a little flawed this day!

Wow, K2, you better make sure your photobucket pro account is all paid up. With this amazing graphics display and what you are promising for the JVC you might just tilt your meter into overdrive. :D

No Whooping Cough here, but the doctor did put me on some gigantic horse pills of antibiotic to fight this sinus infection I've got going. Am putting in a lot of rest in the next few days, and hopefully be up and rowing when the JVC starts.

Kudos to all the half moons just posted! Way to row, Team!

Chris,

I just can't get away from my favorite food - chocolate - so this year I will have another Mud Slide, but with an added shot of peppermint schnapps.

Tim is requesting a Banana Steamer - steamed milk with banana flavoring.

Ben is keeping it cool with a Sunkist Orange Soda - chilled but with no ice.

Hi Chris,

Last years Horny Margarita wasn't such a success. I got a slight headache the next morning. So this year I'll go for the all natural Austrian Zirbenschnaps. (Also known to the none German speaking population in the world as Stone Pine Schnaps)
I still have two bottles of "home brew" from an Austrian farmer, who lives up the mountain at about 6000ft from April till October. When he is not looking after his 20 cows, he brews the nicest schnaps from whatever is available in the season. His zirbenschnaps is the best. For 38% alc. it's very soft and easy going.....

Cheers!!

Peter.

... you guys are making these up, right !!

No? Okay, I'll sleuth them out and bring them on board. It's nearly next year, and I do love a good challenge. (Talking of which, is everyone signed up for the JVC??)

of course we don't... Here is an extraction from http://www.zirbenz.com

Stone Pine Liqueur: A Unique Identity with Alpine Luxury. In generations past, possession of stone pine liqueur was indicative of one's skill at mountaineering or a prized alpine journey. Enjoyment was reserved for special occasions, owing to the liqueur's limited availability. Today, with sophisticated lovers of food and drink seeking out natural and unique local products, a new generation is enjoying Zirbenz Stone Pine Liqueur with fine dining and the luxury alpine resort experience. Through partnership with local mountain harvesters and respect of forest conservation practices, Haus Alpenz now offers Zirbenz beyond the forest kingdom of Steiermark Austria.

Go and try it out in Augora hills CA
