All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 12.23.10

Post by Kona2 » December 24th, 2010, 1:31 pm

While I haven't calculated precisely how many millions of meters we have all rowed in the Holiday Challenge, it is indeed going to be an IMPRESSIVE amount! Ray's leading the 200K Honor Board achievers for this team with 855K thus far, Jim K's leading the 50K Adaptive Honor Board achievers with 553K thus far, Tris is leading the 50K 16 and younger Honor Board achievers with 93K, and Andrea and Ted are galloping along at 194K for the 100K Holiday Challenge Honor Board...both working hard on their 200K Antler Lights. Over forty percent of the team has earned a reindeer by getting onto the Honor Boards....how sweet is that?!

ImageOur four teammates on the Aussie side of the IDL - Bazzy, Angelo, Dave H (AUS), and Dick W (S Korea) are enjoying their Christmas Day at the moment and have completed the Holiday Challenge. Congratulations!!Angelo may have some additional meters to upload, but right now the HC meters for these folks are:

Bazzy 635,000 m....!
Angelo 62,042 m
Dave H (AUS) 48,832 m

ImageImageImage This is it! Today's the LAST day of the Holiday Challenge!

Somewhere in Oregon, Danno is experiencing another kind of Holiday Challenge as he meets new grandson Charlie for the first time....he'll handle this challenge just fine....safe to say, he's done with Holiday Challenge meters though!!

Woohoo! Almost a cool half million meters today, TWO sets of repeating numbers, a few half moons and one full moon plus....and we've got several teammates who have their eye on the prize and are pushing hard to complete the holiday challenge...row....row....row!

Season meters as of 238/365 = 69,608,951 m

Total meters on the day = 478,400 m

Oars in space (participation) = 34 percent

MILESTONES...Bragging Rights...Celebrations:

2.7 MM Ray
2.1 MM Jerry
900 K Kenneth G
400 K Tom M
400 K Dan E
300 K Andrea

FOUR Million Meter Watch:

Minnie with (63,716 m)...a couple of movies and she's done!

TWO Million Meter Watch:

Rodrigo-go-go with (141,586 m) to go!

Angelo with (72,844 m) to go!

Kenneth G with (82,048 m) to go!

Kristine with (81,697 m) to go!

Image Jim K leads the herd with 49,053 m ....just 947 m shy of a red giant!
Image Jerry earns a half moon plus with 36,185 m
ImageCathie with 27,127 m earns a half moon plus some...is glad for an almost full moon since daylight hours are hard to come by in Bethel right now...
Image Ray racks up 25,002 m and earns another half moon
ImageKenneth G sets his antler lights on an airport approach and earns another half moon with 25,000 m posted
Image Dan E is zooming along, posts another half moon with 24,173 m!
ImageMinnie the mooner with another half moon
Image AJ with a half marathon earns a half moon!

And Holiday Challenge meters brought to you by:

Ross, so glad to hear your good news regarding your surgery, and that you are on your way to a full recovery.

Great job to the new reindeer achievers. I was really proud of Ben who did his longest row ever last night to capture those final meters, and make his challenge goal.

I was hoping to finish off with a few more meters myself, but have developed a cough which the exercise makes worse, so have decided to rest up, recover, and save my strength for the JVC.

Chris, you are on for the bartending duties this year. Thanks for stepping up. Maybe Keith and AJ are soul-brothers in the Guinness department - it's not just for breakfast anymore, right?

Merry Christmas to all our Luna-tic mates around the globe, 8am here on a perfect Sydney day!

And congratulations to all for the great effort in the charity challenge, especially all the young luna-tics!

TomO is opening presents, but he is yet to find his new bike……enjoy your day wherever you are, and I’ll leave you with the following that goes to the tune of ‘Jingle Bells’…. BBB

Dashing through the bush
In a rusty Holden Ute
Kicking up the dust
Esky in the boot
Kelpie by my side
Singing Christmas songs
It's summer time and I am in
My singlet, shorts & thongs

CHORUS:

OH, JINGLE BELLS, JINGLE BELLS
JINGLE ALL THE WAY
CHRISTMAS IN AUSTRALIA
ON A SCORCHING SUMMER'S DAY
JINGLE BELLS, JINGLE BELLS
CHRISTMAS TIME IS BEAUT
OH WHAT FUN IT IS TO RIDE
IN A RUSTY HOLDEN UTE

Engine's getting hot
Dodge the kangaroos
Swaggy climbs aboard
He is welcome too
All the family is there
Sitting by the pool
Christmas day, the Aussie way
By the barbecue!

CHORUS

Come the afternoon
Grandpa has a doze
The kids and uncle Bruce
Are swimming in their clothes
The time comes round to go
We take a family snap
Then pack the car and all shoot through
Before the washing up

CHORUS
"Those who don't think it can be done shouldn't bother the person doing it..."

And they flew through the night....

Post by Kona2 » December 25th, 2010, 2:15 am

Just a quick note of congratulations to:

Andrea.....she got her lights!

Mike M .... he not only got his lights, he made his ONE million for the rowing season!

Ted .... he got his lights!

And to all who have rowed with us through this challenge....a resounding thank you and well done! The Luna Herd graphics will be presented tomorrow. Rudolph is Tristan by just a few meters over Mario Jackson...! And to those who will soon leave us to become part of Jim's team, thank you for staying through the challenge - we needed all our reindeer to fly through the night!

And to all....a good night.

He's a meter millionaire!!

All meters are worthy meters...but some feel a bit more satisfying upon their completion than others! For Mike, a half marathon propelled him across both the 200K milestone for the Holiday Challenge, AND the ONE million meter milestone for the season! Congratulations, Mike M, on achieving a ONE million meter season! We wish you many, many more!

Everyone brings something good to this team - and sometimes those things stay even when the teammate moves on (although once a Lunie, you're imprinted.... :D ) - so I may have to throw a hoo-boy exclamation in every so often or a speeding soccer ball, and maybe mention the Cubs once in awhile. It's a day to smile a lot, team - for a challenge done well!

Challenge to my former team and current team of 8 of my family members.
We O.D.ers at 11 members as of now ,challenge you to triple our meters during the January challenge. You currently have 47 members. If numbers of members change , it might have to be adjusted. If we win, Kona must say the Cubs are the greatest baseball team of all time. If we lose  , I will say the "gasp" Rockies rock.

Hello, LUNA-TICS

Thank you for your generous invitation to join the club! I'm trying to get in shape and am now looking to you for inspiration (no pressure). You won't even notice the difference my few meters make to the January team challenge, but logging meters for the team will help keep me motivated. Thanks again!
