Hey, Team TimbukTOO, you're invited to Mark's place for FREE BBQ & beer!!! All you need to do is go on a 5-hour bike ride with him first!!!

Thanks for the welcome! I'm looking forward to rowing (or is it erging) with everyone. I'll be happy to cook some tasty BBQ and serve it with a quality craft beer, and you won't even have to go on a five hour ride...I'll let a 2 hour hilly ride qualify!

You left me off of the challenge list- no biggie, since I am still going strong- just a note.
Thanks,
Gary

Sorry, Gary..I would never want to leave anyone off the list.My last update was 12/11..and you made the honor board on Sunday12/12..so you were not on that list.BUT you did make the list today!!! The 50,000 METER board is for adaptive rowers so you had to reach 100,000 meters before they would include you on the honor board.I shout out all the WOO-HOOs and YAH-HOOs as they are available to me.Way to row Gary!!!!!You are officially on the board!!!

All right then.
'Sorry for my confusion
By the way, I ordered a pair of those New Grip gloves.
I am looking forward to using them.
The X-mas free shipping offer makes this a better than usual deal.
My hands need some protection- the timing on that posting was perfect.

I started out rowing because I had a torn meniscus, and I thought that geting off my feet, while still getting a cardio workout would help prolong my right meniscus. At first it was not even 50% time on the Concept 2.
This tactic seems to be working. I still am working out on a Cybex ARC Trainer for between 15 and 30 minutes most days, but I am finding that I am gradually doing more rowing ( I am at almost 900K this rowing season ) and less work while on my feet. There is virtually no discomfort in my right knee either.
I have a couple of choices to make going forward. I can start to just row longer and to manage my pace with more precision, and push myself more- depending on how I feel, or I can opt for more structured workouts- such as some of the alternatives listed on the WOD on the Concept 2 site.
And I need to start to work on my form- somehow, some way I need to become more efficient
I dont have very specific rowing goals- I turn 63 real soon- I still work at a 40 + hour per week job- I know I want to break 8 minutes for 2K- but I also recognize that even if I broke 8 minutes and went to the Crash B's, I would be a very slow rower in my age and weight class.
My gym may be selling a used Model C. That would allow for me to row at home some of the time and get in some assistance exercises which I currently dont have time to do.
These are just random thoughts- I am enjoying the rowing and the web-site and the virtual team.
I may not be the first to have said this- but I think I see land- Onward.

I am a bit confused today.

I make a few mistakes on the posts..leave a name or 2 off by error in cut & paste or error due to web site and we lose 7 team members all at once.Maybe someone can explain to me how a team works..I thought we all stuck together..supported each other.. B)

I try to offer all the motivation I can muster up and offer all the latest data..and then this..???

I refuse to let this dampen my spirit as I believe in team work in all we do every day..

Can someome tell me what I can do to make this team stay intact?????

...and the youth of our team..they are gone. What kind of example of being on a team are we setting for them? They are the ones we value and want to help them to know what it is to be a team player..come highs, come lows.. :D

Think about it..

I am just in amazement of what a few small mistakes /misunderstandings do to this team.

I am stunned..

We have lost the following team members because I made an error..tell me why this was necessary??

Jim
Ray
Katerina
Tristan
Kaylee
Jackson
Bobbie
Ashlee
Ronnie
Ethan
Robyn

Does this mean a mass exodus because of a simple error??

To leave and go to the Lunatics seems like a rather mean thing to do.. i certainly meant no harm by missing Jackson's post on the 50,000 meter board.i have never see this type of team work in all my professional years.. so sad.

Pat, are you sure it's you? I can't believe it!! How could that be? I'm stunned too if that is the case.

<soapbox>

I mean, how important are numbers, really, people!?!?! They're digits in some stupid database somewhere!!! If we didn't have computers to tally and remember all this stuff for us, would any of us really know (or perhaps even care?) what our lifetime meters are?!?! I certainly wouldn't!! Are any of us in this for professional gain or training for the Olympics? (I am PERSONAL FRIENDS with an Olympic rower ('94 I think), and I don't think he'd endorse this kind of team jumping, either.) And the challenge is an individual one to benefit others!! We should be focusing on the charitable causes for which this is being held in the first place.

I agree with Pat, being a part of a team is about comraderie, health, encouragement, community, support, setting a good example for the littler ones, all of it. I don't care if this team is last in the virtual standings. I'm here for the duration.

Feel free to post opposing opinions. I'm open to listening to them.
