I'm sorry, you great women and men of TimbukTOO, but I'm jumping ship to join my local rowing club's team. I'm not participating in the Holiday Challenge, because I'm gone for 2 weeks, but it was last year's Holiday Challenge that got me onto my erg. I must admit, rowing on the water is a lot more fun that erging (today was beautiful, sunny, great row), but erging is such great exercise, and is available all times of the day/night/weather. This team has been a such a great support.

Y'all ROCK!

I will be away until 12-1.
Unless if there are Concept2's at the various hotels at which I will be holed up, I will be resting my erg muscles and storing up calories.
Happy Thanksgiving one and all.

Congratulations to Cathie for passing 800K season meters , 103 years to the day, the Cunard liner Mauretania set a new speed record for steamships, with 624 nautical miles in one day. Coincidence? Hmmmm

Thank you Jim.

My husband was very sick for a long time and passed away a week ago. So I am going to try and get back to rowing on a regular schedule.

Dear Susan,
Even when you expect it, it still hits you like a ton of bricks, and hurts like heck. Our thoughts, feelings and prayers are with you.

Even though I'd love to see you put up some meters, and even though keeping busy and/or keeping to a regular schedule is very helpful for most people, please take time to mourn as well.
Maybe ask your friends to commit to writing what they valued, cherished and remembered about him, and put aside a time to read them and cry. Definitely do something concrete in his memory (a Memorial Fund to help find better treatments for the illness he had? Start a support group for sufferers of that malady? Set up groups of hospital visitors? Help a family in a similar situation?).
I can't fully fathom the deep and abiding ties between you two, and what this means to you, but I can send you this digital *HUG*.
May his memory live on through those he helped, molded and changed.

COUNTDOWN: 9 days and 214,493 meters to go to 5MM. Jim needs to average 23,833 a day to hit it before November ends!
(Jim, we'll still love you even if it takes an extra day or two...)

Wow, Jim, that's too uncanny to be a coincidence! Because if we take the 624 nautical miles and add it to the amount of years ago, we get 727. Then if we add the 28 years of service the RMS Mauretania put in, the 24 knots per hour it traveled on its last voyage, 11 for the month of November and the 13 letters in the name Cathie Johnson - we get 803, the nearest thousand to Cathie's 802,943 meters.
How could that POSSIBLY be a coincidence?!
