Congratulations, Danno, on achieving TWENTY million lifetime meters! We wish you many, many more!

I would like to dedicate this achievement to Moose. His wit and wisdom sustained many a Luna-Tic.

toothdoc
Oh my... what a shock to look in on the boards and take in the happenings of the last few days... :(

So much has been said already, however to me Moose was truly a man dedicated to his passions - and I admired him for his obvious strength of character (and envied his amazing trips too!). RIP Moose. Prayers and thoughts for family and friends at this time.
Doc, 20 million meters is a life altering achievement. Congratulations, and I think your dedication to Moose is very appropriate.
I will have a one hour session in memory for Moose tomorrow - which will be my last erg for a couple of weeks while I am over in WA for a family wedding & holiday.

Best regards,
Dave

My 6k yesterday was not on open water, but rather on snow. We got about 10 inches here this weekend and I couldn't resist getting out the skis. Really poor conditions for the first lap, but after my tracks set up it wasn't too bad. I'm planning to go out again tonight.

I noted the meters as "on snow" in my logbook, but don't know how they appear on the affiliation board. I didn't even know about the "on snow" option until I was reading up on the skierg. Do ski meters still count on our lunar expedition? What about in the upcoming challenges? If it's a problem I'll track my ski meters somewhere else... no biggie.
My mistake! Can't believe I didn't even think of snow - we just haven't had enough snowfall here to get out and cross country ski yet! AND SKI METERS ABSOLUTELY COUNT towards the moon. Since Concept2 has the Ski Erg now, I doubt that there will be exclusions on when you can you use ski meters. Will make sure that I clarify for each of the upcoming challenges.

Leonid Meteor Shower

Post by just27 » November 17th, 2010, 7:45 pm

Image

The Leonid meteor shower is peaking this week ... best through Nov. 18 ... 15-20 meteors per hour. Go Leo!

I was all set to drag deck chairs out tonight, until I read that the best time is 2-3 hours before sunrise. I guess I could simply stay up "late" which is more appealing than getting up early!

Groundhog Day...in November?!

Post by Kona2 » November 17th, 2010, 7:57 pm

My, my....who knew? Groundhog day is in November now. Katerina and Robyn activated the escape pods and returned to Timbuktoo. Good rowing while they were here - hopefully they got some good energy from us while they were part of this team.

Image

Ok....if we see our shadows, we stay with the team.....

We have once again slid backwards to 43 MM.....what is it with that number? I don't get it.

While watching for meteors, we might catch a glimpse of flight practice.....whoop whoop! Get your rowing game on! We've got something to "say" with our meters! More meters = more charity dollars donated by Concept2. You can choose which of the three charities your meters are going to go towards, or let Concept2 choose. Just takes a minute to sign up for this one....and while you're at it, go into the teams section and say YES to the January Virtual Team Challenge...

Season meters as of 200/365 = 43,814,963 m

Total meters on the day = 196,285 m

Oars in space (participation) = 18 percent

MILESTONES...Bragging Rights...Celebrations:

3.2 MM Danno
1.4 MM Jerry
1.2 MM David T

Image Minnie returns to mooning with a half marathon plus 2K for good measure and to finish the movie...23,097 m
Image AJ with a half marathon

And thanks to all who rowed with us today on our lunar mission -

Ross 4,640 m
Ben S 5,069 m ....woohoo! look at you row! good man!
Tim S 5,589 m ... gains a few spots in the stats
Rick 6,475 m
Image Chip 7,098 m ...gets a lift out of cross country skiing! Won't be able to use on the snow meters for the upcoming challenge, but don't let that stop you from getting out on the snow - all that outdoor time is good stuff!

A good weekend to all... Weather is a little cooler here compared to late last week, although no snow!

May go for a ‘shorter’ walk tomorrow, on the other hand may not and just have a Cooper’s Stout instead...

Ah! At first glance, like with many things, lunar rocks might just appear to be that....rocks. Items locked in our secret lunar laboratory (probably run by geologist Kiba) suggest there just might be more to moon rocks... :D After all, we turned Sham Rock into one of the finest galactic space bars ever for our March Madness Challenge celebrations!

Chip with (either 130,310 m if only erg meters or 116,212 m if erg + on snow)...I'm going with the 116,212 m since we're tracking total meter contributions - which is what is reflected in our team totals ...any opinions anyone?

Ross with (151,943 m) to go!

Shameless advertising....I know. The Holiday Challenge....and that pin we earn for the 200,000 m ....might just be the challenge most attempted by those new to the Concept2 rowing world. Some row just that challenge - albeit with some intermittent rows here and there - for the entire rowing year. We're hoping that you're hooked on rowing after completing the Holiday Challenge...and that you'll join us as we rock and row through the January Virtual Team Challenge. Team challenges offer the boundary of a time frame - and the rest is up to the team and its members. We build our teams, cheer on our teammates, earn honor board rights.

You'll find yourself in some fun intra- and inter-team competitions ....in fact, this year it might just be the first erg scrum..down to the eve of December 24th wire!
