Row Pro and public C2 machine questions
Row Pro and public C2 machine questions
I have emailed Row Pro three times and called them on the phone three times and have been unable to get a response to this question. If I buy Rowpro and load it on my laptop can I take the laptop to a local gym and use it with their C2 machines? Or ... is the Row Pro software licensed to a particular unique C2 machine? I would have expected this to be a common occurance since not everyone owns their own C2 machine. It has totally stumped the Row Pro folks so I am hoping someone on this forum has tried to do this and can advise. Thanks in advance..

Re: Row Pro and public C2 machine questions
I've never tried to do this, but I'd expect that the license is for the laptop, not a particular rowing machine. If I replaced my Concept2 I wouldn't expect to have to buy another copy of RowPro.

Re: Row Pro and public C2 machine questions
Rowpro works with every PM4 and any PM3 that has the right pre-requisite version of the firmware. It's licenced for the laptop/PC it's loaded on not for the PM3/PM4 you're using with that laptop.
The machine in the gym may be back-level on firmware: Main menu --> More Options --> Utilities --> ProductID will tell you.

As above it is licenced to the PC.
Rowpro only works on later versions of the PM3 or PM4 firmware.
You would have to do a firmware upgrade of the Monitor using a laptop and internet access using the C2 utility.
The Gym however may not be happy with you if you don't do it right and "Brick" their monitor so it no longer works. Older firmware versions like V82 on the PM3 require a different update utility that has a bit of a trick if you want it to work properly and get it to V101 then you need the latest utility to take it from V101 to V105 which is the latest release.
Typically Gym's or public Ergs have exactly the same firmware release they were sold new as no one updates it so expect a few problems.

Re: Row Pro and public C2 machine questions
Thanks for all the information. If I have to fool around with the C2's PM firmware this will probably not be a good idea. I don't think the gym staff would want me to do something that might brick their PM. I will discuss this with them though and see what they think perhaps upgrading the firmware on just one of the six machines would be OK. Thanks again for all the help.

Version 82 and not older is easier to do on the PM3 using the latest 6.30 upgrade utility.JoeF wrote:Thanks for all the information. Just do not unplug the USB cable at any point until the PM3 restarts.
The warning message to not unplug it really isn't clear enough in the utility.

Send me a PM if you come across any older firmware versions and I will send you a tip for using the version 101 upgrade utility that took me ages to discover otherwise it is VERY frustrating to try and use.

For anything less than V101 use this: http://software.concept2.com/pm3firmwar ... 1Setup.exeCarl Watts wrote: Send me a PM if you come across any older firmware versions and I will send you a tip for using the version 101 upgrade utility that took me ages to discover otherwise it is VERY frustrating to try and use.
Re: Row Pro and public C2 machine questions
I checked the C2 at the gym and the firmware is v309, so I should not have to mess with it. Next step is download the demo and try it out!
