Today, I got a 4-month pass to the rec building on campus and was back on the stepper for an hour.

Biking is great, too, but I like the combination of skipping, stepping, and sit ups as cross-training to drive my weight down to 10% body fat (and keep it there) for racing.

So I am into this mix again.

I like to do skipping and sit ups before I erg in the morning.

I like to do stepping later in the day.

Translation: I'm not close to making weight without severe dehydration, and if I don't cut two kilos by BIRC I'll have to race NavHaz. And get my @r$e handed to me on a platter.

Ah, that makes a little sense. But people massage their pits too?
If you look carefully you will see arm pit hair. It is blond and not very visible.
Most cyclist shave their legs because it is socially unacceptable to ride with hairy legs. Very few actually get/do the massages. Certainly the pros do but most amateurs rarely do. It is also much cleaner--less road dirt that the wheels kick up sticks to shaved legs (this was very noticeable years ago when I rode in NYC)--which is important if one crashes.

Aside from the steering Ranger does row just like Ebbesen, only slower with much worse technique.

My weight is fine, although, sure, losing a couple of kgs. before BIRC would be great.

Things are getting austere.

Hard rowing, extensive cross-training, not much food.

Final two weeks of preparation for BIRC.

The converse is even more difficult to phrase:

ranger should pay attn. to these incontrovertible facts:

Best Woman erger = Sophie Balmary // has no major victories at 2k OTW
Best Woman lwt erger = Ursula Grober... ergs so little on the C@ but still has the WR... 8th at Karapiro.. no major victories at 2k.
Best Man lwt erger = Henrik Stephansen ... will single scull at Karapiro in the semis... I predict a B final appearance... IOW: no major victories...
Should it be then "The very best ergers cannot win the major events except in rare exceptions (Rob Waddell)."

Let the chain jerking continue! :D
The misrepresentation display by TSO is pathetic...

SInce when is the quantity (4 kilos) a couple?

What is your weight before working out each day?
If it were merely a couple kilos, you wouldn't have to devote countless hours on that ridiculous stepper.

... any 'glory weight' form tips for the stepper? :P

This afternoon's recovery row: 9 x 500m/2', negative-splitted;

01] 1:36.6 r31
02] 1:35.6 r32
03] 1:35.6 r32
04] 1:35.4 r31
05] 1:35.2 r32
06] 1:34.8 r32
07] 1:34.7 r32
08] 1:34.0 r33
09] 1:29.2 r36

4500m total work distance; 14:11.2 total work time. 1:34.5 average 414w r32 12.9 spi (per PM). Somewhere the PM lost a tenth of a second (the splits don't add up to the displayed total work time, but to 14:11.1). Factual rating also was 32.3 (stroke counts), so factual spi was 12.8. The last rep was a bit lumpy, considering my dead legs after the earlier session.... EDIT: forgot to add. I rowed the last 500m rep at 1:34 r32 for ~ 250m and then kicked it in. Do the math,

See you in my race at BIRC, Fatger....

Interesting. You're at weight right now, but have decided to starve yourself and exercise non-stop for a couple weeks prior to the most important race in 7 years. Excellent strategy. You can't possibly type this crap with a straight face. Best of luck to Nav and all the others that will go to BIRC and just pull their asses off without all the drama. They're the ones that deserve a thread in their honor.

I have a positive suggestion though:

Why not let's all get back to examination of things accomplished and quantifiable excluding the years prior to say 2009..?
We could have some real discussions..

ranger could post some comprehensive photos and/or video fo him rowing along with full stats easily pictured or transcribed from his (now working) PM4... with his (now working) Suunto HR belt...
Good Idea? You bet your bippy!

Why, look at this bum:
https://www.sportgraphics.com/events/40 ... rch+Photos
in the purple shirt and blue stocking cap... all he can do is scull... and win races OTW
He clearly needs tutoring from the maestro of natural stroking power, TSO Von ManBatt...!

Please provide your current not yet fully sharpened 500m time, 2k time, and 5 or 6k time... So I can be made aware of how you progress through these weeks leading to fully-trained-ness... and compare it to my own progress.
Or, are you one of those guys who doesn't care to share requested information of this sort?

Did you miss it?

Henrik made the A final by winning his semi coming from 4th position at 1500m

Duncan Grant (NZ) came 4th in the same race....he looked devastated.

It's worth watching if its in the archives

The stepper ... it truly is The Fall!

In the past "the fall" was assumed to be a point in time, related to BIRC. What if "the fall" was really the point where all the trash talk came to a halt because the goals were not realized.

Since this is what we have seen the last several years it makes sense ... just sayin'

How about this ... get a uni with vertical stripes, it has a slimming effect.

Glad someone is paying attn>
I had thought his win took him to the semis.. I stand corrected.

Yet: What are his chances in the final? Will they be based on his erg score?

Looks like the fisa.feedrom.com coverage just got blacked out for me :(

All of this acting out is obtuse in the extreme, Mike.

If your erg scores were better, your OTW rowing would be better.

No question.

Your weak erg scores are a liability, whether you want to acknowledge it or not.

Why can't you rate 30 spm at the Head of the Charles?

It doesn't have anything to do with your OTW technique.

It has to do with your physical capacity.

People like Meyer and Anderson have more horses than you (by a minute over 5K).

You could use to erg to work on this weakness, but the attitudes you express here explain why you are too foolish to consider it.

Pretty odd attitudes to be parading on a forum for indoor rowing.

No?
