It's time to drag "the table" out for inspection again.
SPI is one of ranger's "truth machine(s)" (ain't it a bitch)
The best performance surrounding a probable ranger appearance at the Brit. champs will be TSO's post race explanation for his failure to break Roy's 55-59 lwt WR.
My guesses:
"I am nearly 60 years old."
"Roy doesn't work for a living as I do"
"I only erg in my spare time"
"A WR is a limit, not a short term goal"
"I have the rest of my life to... ( )"
"I am still sharpening so racing my training would be ruinous"
The thing that confuses me the most is TSO's steadfast need to keep time/distance in training figures secret
We can't possibly think any less of him than we do now

Re: Ranger's training thread
No you dont. The Great Dane can row in a straight line and is not considered a mortal danger to other competitors.

Naw, nothing as subtle as that.ginster wrote:Ranger says he rows like Ebbesen, but then posts this picture, which is very clearly of Ebbesen NOT rowing... maybe that's what TSO means, he lays the handle down during his "breaks" in the same manor that Ebbesen lets go of his oar after he finishes the race
How about this?
We both put down the handle in the same way at the end of each interval when doing 20 x 500m, 1:34 @ 31 spm, OTErg.
We both erg 6:16 for 2K.

By the way, are you still using a sweep stroke on the Erg?

The person on the erg (which is all your concerned about since you can't row a lick on the water) who yanks the handle the hardest for the set distance or time wins.
There is little to NO technique involved in using the erg.
Go to any gym in the country and there are many, many guys there that would smoke you on the erg. And most of them just yank the handle as hard as they can.
You're such a moron.
Re: Ranger's training thread
hmmmm.......... how many times have you done either of those?ranger wrote: ...

oh yes, about as many as me...
at least I've lived in Denmark, which quite frankly probably makes me more like Ebbesen than you

On a far more important note ... do those guys shave their bodies, or does rowing cause all of your body hair to fall out? If they shave, why?ranger wrote:

Re: Ranger's training thread
Good question Lindy! The extreme exertion caused by erging has a negative response on hair follicles. After extended periods of erg training most people are completely bald. Just goes with the territory. Seriously though, this is a phenomenon I can't understand. I see guys do it all the time. By shaving the hair off an arm or leg, it shows the definition of the muscles better, making them look bigger and more defined. I think it just makes them look creepy. I spent the first 15 years of my life dying to grow body hair...no way in hell I want to shave myself now to look like a little boy again. Just my opinion, no offense intended to those that shave their bodies:)

Not true at all.kini62 wrote:There is little to NO technique involved in using the erg.
The best OTW rowers are also the best ergers.
By working on technique, over the last eight years, I have increased my stroking power by 35%.
The pace I used to pull at 42 spm and 10 SPI in a 1-to-1 ratio at max drag (200+ df.), I now pull at 31 spm and 13.5 SPI in a 3-to-1 ratio at low drag (120 df.).
This increase in technical effectiveness and efficiency is astonishing.

Love the cadence at 31 spm for racing.
3-to-1 ratio.

Give or take a bit,
.5 seconds for the drive; 1.5 seconds for the recovery.

No they're not. You can repeat it a million times if you want to. You can even hold your breath and kick your toys out of the pram while you shout it. That won't make it any less false.Fraudger wrote:The best OTW rowers are also the best ergers.
