When I sharpen, I don't do these workouts just once.

I do them every day for several weeks.

As your anaerobic capacities are developed, and you get used to both the high rate and high effort, you can get as much as three seconds per 500m better on these workouts in a very short while.

I need to get to 1:32--at my best--before BIRC.

ranger

I'm confused - I thought you said everyone sharpened the same way - but I've yet to meet someone who does 8x500 r3:30 every day as a sharpening routine.

have you started this cycle of doing them every day yet? how's it looking?
ginster: I am confused too!
RANGER SECRECY
SORT OF LOOKS LIKE A DESPERATION MOVE NOW THAT THE BIRC IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN...
I'm also ":? :!: " by the fact that ranger is still unable to operate his PM4 after so many years :? :? :?

Where are the screen shots of these blazing 8 x 500m/3:30r sessions? :? :? :? :? :? :?
Must be a trade secret? :? :? :? :? :? :?
OMG; WTF.

BRILLIANT STRATEGY: Hold off (forever) on any evidence... very convincing!

Anybody... Please help me...
Has there been a single verified ranger workout/race/TT since his 6:41 2k in BF Egypt late last winter?
Didn't think so..
Silence speaks volumes.

I'd like to point out that there actually have been two recent screenshots of "blazing" 8 x 500m/3:30 workouts in this thread.

True, both of them are mine..... :D

Ooops. My bad. I forgot that although the head racing is winding down, when the head racing season is on the discussion is supposed to be on the 6:16 2k's that are about to happen because this year you finally learned how to row and you will be fully trained and sharpened. I was going to mention that you missed another beautiful late fall morning, 27 deg. F. here, which would be good practice for head racing during cooler temperatures, and that today is the last day to register for Wyandotte. But I won't say those things even though

I am delighted with my progress OTW this year.

OTW, I now row a relaxed 2:05 @ 26 spm in a 3-to-1 ratio.

This year, I learned to use the full slide, to loosen my grip, to relax my shoulders at the catch, to get quickly out the stern at the finish, and a host of other things (including upgrading my equipment with a new boat).

Sure, I still have a lot to learn, but that just makes it more exciting yet.

Next year, rowing OTW should be fun--indeed.

Actually, my PM4 died--entirely.

What do you do when that happens?

Order a new one?

I don't really need it anymore.

I know how fast I am going at various paces, and I can measure distance by counting strokes.

But I suppose we are all addicted to those numbers flashing on the screen.

It might be nice to have them back again.

A PM4 doesn't have a battery; it recharges itself, right?

So why did it die?

I don't get any response from it at all.

And it's really not that old, just two or three years.

I had my old PM2 a _lot_ longer than that.

LOL!!! And I suppose this coincidentally happened just as you were painted into a corner with no more excuses for not showing your screenshots. Or did it happen some time ago, and all the numbers you've been "seeing, and delighted with" during your rowing with breaks routine were just estimates as you stroke along?

This is the final proof we all need that you are 100% fraud and troll, nothing more. I would imagine your passport is going to go missing about 2 weeks from now as well.

A PM4 has two rechargeable D cells. Maybe you haven't done enough erging to keep them charged

If it's broken C2 will organise a replacement. Their customer service is excellent.

So let me get this straight: you are now sharpening; you are rowing 8 x 500m intervals daily; by the time of BIRC you want to have these down to 1:32.

And all without a PM4.

True.
If I hadn't bet $1000 on my 2009 2K time, I wouldn't sharpen and race again.
But I _did_ bet on my 2009 2K time.
So...
Time to sharpen up (a bit) to prepare for a 2K.
I usually get a dozen seconds or so over 2K from a month or so of hard sharpening.

2Ks hurt pretty badly if you aren't ready for them.
Hey, hjs, any possibility of modifying our $1000 bet along the lines of our $3000 bet?
A time extension would be _greatly_ appreciated.
That might be a squarer deal, given my situation (unprepared!).
I need to get sharpened up if I want to be doing 2Ks without a lot of grief.

You could just take the rechargable battery pack out and replace it with a pair of D-cells. There was a firmware bug from around the time you got your modelD/PM4 that means the battery pack fails to recharge if you're only doing short five minute workouts (like a gym monkey). Of course, it wouldn't go flat/dead if you were charging it with a marathon of metres every day.

Or it's time to run the C2 utility to a) get all that mass of data off your logcard (and logged online) b) get the latest firmware updates installed and c) recharge the battery using the USB power supply..

How convenient.

I too can row 1:32 (in my mind) if I unplug the PM.

I read these two things from ranger today ...

Like Mike VB ... I am confused ...

Ranger tells us over and over that everyone sharpens the same ... but nobody sharpens like this! So does that mean sharpening hasn't really started or is this something else???

Of course we all know that you have to train slow to fast and distance to sprint ... so since we have not seen any of the distance trails that muct come before sharpening how can sharpening actuallt be happening?

Me thinks that BIRC was scheduled too early this racing season for ranger's 6:16 2K! Perhaps they could postpone until the day before ranger's 60th bithday in the interest of participating in the greatest OTErg performance ever?!

I am talking to C2 about it. First, you pop out the rechargeable battery. Then you put in regular batteries, to see if that works. It didn't. Then you let it sit for nine hours to see if the gizmo will re-set itself. The C2 tech says that it might be seized up. Then you put the batteries back in and see if you get a response. Then...

Sigh...

So it goes.

I guess I let it sit until 8 p.m. tonight and then put some batteries in it to see if it has been resurrected.

Christ the Lord is Risen Today...
