Ranger's training thread
Re: Ranger's training thread
Come on, Mike.
Row at BIRC.
Things like BIRC is what training is all about, no?
Performance?
Racing?
At BIRC, you'll have plenty of opportunity to show exactly how bad you are, and therefore how poorly you have trained!
Take advantage!
Don't let this golden opportunity pass by to show what you can do exactly, time over distance rowed!
Hey, you can even rank the result and label it "RACE."
That's even better than "IND_V."
Nothing like objectivity in sport, no?

Has it ever occurred to you that the point of view on training that you take here is the reason you will never do anything significant in the sport?aharmer wrote:Why not lock this thread and start a new one dedicated to ranger called "Ranger's workout screenshots". Any legitimate training data loaded to the thread can and will be discussed. Anything other than discussion regarding actual workout screenshots will be deleted.
Food for thought.
No reason to foist your own failures off onto others, as though they are successes.
That's sick.

Then how about this?aharmer wrote:Whether you like it or not ranger, nobody seems to care about your 7 year old WR rows, or your 3 year old 2k times as a heavyweight
No one my age or weight last year came within 20 seconds on my 2K, even though I didn't prepare to race.
When I race--fully prepared, rowing well at low drag--no one my age and weight will come within 40 seconds of my 2K.
That's a pretty big gap, no?
10 seconds per 500m.
RANKING RESULTS 2010

9 Peter Francis 61 Denver CO USA 7:09.3 RACE
10 Roger Prowse 65 Isle of Wight GBR 7:10.3 RACE
When I pull 6:20 at BIRC at the end of November, it will be faster than anyone beyond their 30s has ever rowed at the event.
This includes the 40s, 50s, and 55s lwt WR-holders (Mike Caviston, Paul Siebach, and Roy Brook), all of whom have rowed at BIRC.
At BIRC 2010, I will be two months shy of 60.

When I haven't prepared to race?BrianStaff wrote:Isn't it YOU who holds the world record for both DNS and DNF?
Sure.
But that is only because, over the last eight years, I have valued training more than racing, as everyone who wants to do their best should.
And even so, year after year, I have had the best race time in my age and weight division, nonetheless.
Go figure.
This year is different, though.
_Very_ different.
This year, I will race fully prepared, rowing well at low drag.
I am now training to race.
Watch out!

6:20 rather than 6:41?
Hey.
I am just taking care of my own business.
I am not responsible for how bad everyone else is.

Re: Ranger's training thread
No, that is an intentional deception of the truth you despicable liar. By the rules of erging, you are a 55-59 year old lightweight. Nothing more, nothing less, regardless how desperate you are to make yourself look good. An accurate statement would be that nobody your age and weight was within 6 seconds of you in the 2010 season. Great job. However, it's not good enough for you. You have to lie and make it far more grandiose than it really is.
You're already claiming that nobody your age and weight will be within 40 seconds of you this year. That may or not be true, but you haven't shown any proof of your ability to make these claims. Just keep yakking on about how wonderful you are. You're doing these predictive workouts, just not at the level you've claimed you can. The proof will come in 7 weeks when you find a reason to either DNS, DNF or race "totally unprepared".
When I'm so completely self-absorbed that I start my own thread about my training, then I'll expect to see you chime in with your opinions on how I train. I enjoy the occasional workout on the erg. It is not the entire reason for my existence on this planet...sorry you can't understand that.

Thanks.aharmer wrote:Great job
But since I did no anaerobic training to pull 6:41, it was just an AT training row.
I also pulled the 6:41 at max drag.
That was a mistake.
At BIRC 2010, I will row (pretty darn) well (12-13 SPI) at low drag (118 df.) fully prepared.
Different issue entirely.
Given these different conditions, at BIRC 2010, I think I'll pull 6:20.
That will create quite a stir, no?

I found a doc to show you the watts you produce (generally at different speeds) on your Cycleops Mag Trainer.

In my garage, the deluge of sweat I produce when I ride never dries.
I lose about a liter/kg. of sweat an hour.
As I mention, in October, my plan is to ride OTBike twice a day.
That should beat my fat _entirely_ into submission.
My goal is to get down to 5% body fat.
155 lbs.
7.7 pounds of body fat.
