Re: The Fall Challenge Diary - How did you go today ?
Day 14.
Started a set row on RowPro but had the distance wrong at 20197 instead of 21097 and it took me 500M to notice it was wrong.
Restart. HM at 2:05.4 pace at 20spm and 143 ave. HR.
Row setup correctly on RowPro for tomorrow.

Day 15.
Forgot to put it up.
HM at 205.4 19spm 143HR
John Neufeldt kindly decided to join me and helped me out most of the way, lost him with about 6Km to go hell it was hard.
Day 16.
HM at 2:04.4 19spm 144HR
Slog slog slog, half way through the Challenge. Inspired by Horst Bros doing his "24" or 24Km row at about the same time. HR approaching my middle UT2 rate so about 2:03.6 is going to be 146HR.

Re: The Fall Challenge Diary - How did you go today ?
Thanks for that, my last 20min PB was at 1:49.9 pace and I noticed I went through 5K at about 18:19 and had to keep going.chgoss wrote:2x5k, 1:57 and 1:56.3, felt near death, but am determined to get back to my 2x5k at 1:52.5

Would like to do a sub 18min 5K, thats really moving, this may be possible by the end of the season.
No chance of doing a second 5K after that though, I was spent. 2K CD only.
Keep up the rowing Chad, Rowpro online are in 3rd place. I'm going to need a week off after this Challange.

Re: The Fall Challenge Diary - How did you go today ?
Day 17.
HM at 2:06.4 pace 17spm with a 137 ave. HR
This is pedestrian pace with my HR nearly bottom UT2. HR back under 100 in less than a minute after the finish. Think I can maintain this to mid October but may have to do a bit extra at the end for a "Top 50" finish, which in terms of actually having rowed all my meters is pretty good.

From another thread, now closed:

Frankly, I was very disappointed with this aspect of RowPro. One of the reasons I got it was that I wanted more detailed HR records than I could get with the 30 split limitation of the monitor. Well, RowPro does give more detail in its graph, but it seems to have some sort of reverse log time scale. It has been awhile since I tried it out and gave up on it, but, as I remember, the early parts of a piece are highly compressed and there is detail only in the later parts. I was also unable to open stored data and when I went for help, the solution to the problem was far beyond my limited computer expertise. In general, I like the concept of RowPro and I went to considerable expense and time (like getting a dedicated laptop for use with my erg), but it has been months since I have used it.Carl Watts wrote:You get a great HR graph with RowPro it is very interesting to see your HR and the way it responds to change. Also find HR interesting with changes in spm at a given pace and keeping yourself in the intended training zone.

Re: The Fall Challenge Diary - How did you go today ?
You can save more splits but I use just the standard settings. Don't get to involved in the in depth analysis, I just use the "Analyse" function in rowpro to compare one row of a similar distance or time to another. Pretty simple your performance has improved if your HR has dropped for a given pace and or you rating has dropped i.e your dps has increased for the same pace.
Ultimately your PB's tell the story of your progress anyway.
Day 18.
The usual HM at 2:06.3 pace 19spm with a 137HR.
This isn't getting any easier !

Keep it up Chad, the thought of having to do a FM if I miss a day is keeping me going !chgoss wrote:nothing to brag about tonight..

Day 19.
HM in the morning at a very slow pace of 2:07.6 at 18spm HR 136ave.This is bottom end UT2.
5K in the afternoon at 1:57.8 pace 19spm no HR to help shift me up the individual standings and stay in the top 50.
Left the HR belt off in the afternoon as even this is cutting into me with all this distance rowing.

Re: The Fall Challenge Diary - How did you go today ?
Day 20.
The countdown has begun to the finish.
HM at 2:05.5 pace 19spm 141 HR in the morning.
5K at 1:59.0 pace 15spm no HR belt in the afternoon.
Rowing the extra 5K to try and stay in contention for a top 50 finish.
Some unbelievable total meters being covered by some people at the top of the individual list, is it just me or do other people have trouble seeing how you could row 50-60km a day on a non-stop (no rest day) basis.

Re: The Fall Challenge Diary - How did you go today ?
12k in 46:57 (1:57.4), not all that impressive in the grand scheme of things, but w/out a doubt the best I have felt in 6 month's (summer always tough).
2k CD
Carl: I remember a couple of years ago a guy did marathon a day for one of those challenges. Sounds incredible but some folks are nuts.. I'm sure a few people make up meters, but I bet most of them are real. I for one, cant imagine someone doing a HM a day
cheers
