TimbukTOO Team Room
Re: The TimbukTOO/TIMBUK2 Team Room SEASON 2010
Thanks, brotherjim, it was a really fantastic trip. The only downside was the erg on the ship, which was really bad (not a concept rower or one I have ever heard of), with few options for exercise! I am however trying to make up for it.
That's a pretty significant ride across America! Don't diminish yourself - not many people have done that. I however can't imagine doing a run from the Arctic to the Antarctic, especially with his time limitations. Wonder how he plans on getting through Columbia/central America? I've heard that can be a very risky area to be in . . .

Re: The TimbukTOO/TIMBUK2 Team Room SEASON 2010
TimbukTOOers, are you looking for challenges that bring your rowing to a new level? Here are 2:
1) www.nonathlon.com will compare your 9 best times to others of your age, so this is "marked on a curve" - if you're fast for your age, you can beat a 20 year old who is slow for his age!
2) www.c2ctc.com gives you a Monthly Challenge, then puts you into a boat with others of your skill level. You can improve your best time throughout the month. No curve, so the 25 year olds rule, hence my sorry 51 year old butt is in 107th place!
This month will challenge your sprinting skills and your lung capacity: 10 sprints of 1:00 length with 1:00 of rest (or slower rowing) in between. Try this a few times, and it should improve your times in the 500m and 1K...
Brother Jim, is there a way to put together a TimbukTOO team for c2ctc, so I don't have to go in as a member of RowPro Rowers? For TimbukTOO, today the Concept2 site, tomorrow the world!

The Darien Gap is, indeed, an ultimate challenge that only a few have met - and most of them resorted to boats for part of it.mwright wrote:Wonder how he plans on getting through Columbia/central America? I've heard that can be a very risky area to be in . . .

Yisroel,
I looked at this website and can't find a place to contact them and add a team. Maybe someone else on here can help us out as I am sure there are members who would be interested in the challenge.
Joe, I know you are a computer expert, any help?

Re: The TimbukTOO/TIMBUK2 Team Room SEASON 2010
jim,
i found the following at http://www.c2ctc.com/faq.php#1
i guess i don't understand how you can create a boat with members from a certain team.
maybe Yisroel can explain?
-------------------------------------------------
1. How are the 'boats' decided?
Each boat seats 5 rowers. The seats can only be occupied by certain categories of rower, as follows:
Seats 1, 2 and 3 are OPEN. Anyone may occupy these seats. Seat 4 is for LIGHTWEIGHTS. Any lightweight, male or female, may occupy this seat. Seat 5 is for FEMALES. Any female, lightweight or heavyweight, may occupy this seat.
Boats are filled on the basis of fastest qualifying occupant. This is done automatically and there is no scope for a team to 'tactically' fill its boats.
2. How can I get a new team added?
This is easily done by posting in the CTC thread, or by contacting Daren or Citroen by private message on the UK Concept2 forum.

Good grief, lost some team members today. Have I said something offensive? Could be my new profile picture.
I apologise if I messed up. Have taken it kind of personally.
Anyway, you all are doing a fantastic job in the challenge and in our boat.

Jim, its a mystery to me why folks move from one team to the next...maybe they are being bribed with Twinkies
I will get to the bottom of it as I start my personal C-2 Twinkie investigation!
Now, I have to get back to rowing, haven't been on the erg this much in a long time, feels great!
Thanks for all your attention to detail Jim, its much appreciated.
Mike

Mike, If it were Twinkies, I would be gone in a heartbeat. Faster if it were Suzy-q's. When I use to work, I would have one on the way to work, very messy on the steering wheel and beard, but oooohhh so good.
You had an awesome day yesterday, way to row!

Please welcome Mallorie D. age 7 and Maddie D. age 4 to our team and challenge team! I am always happy and pleased to have children rowing on the team It is such a great exercise and really safer than running or biking for them. Let's give them a big TimbukTOO welcome.

Welcome to the team challenge Mary I hope you will consider joining us all year round.
Great rowing Douglas ! And to all the other team members in the challenge.
I am posting ANOTHER article, sorry. But as a disabled guy, this man makes me seem like a whiner when I gripe about my minor disabilities.
[/PARIS – A Frenchman whose arms and legs were amputated is attempting to swim across the English Channel.
Philippe Croizon is using specially designed leg prostheses that have flippers attached. His father says he is making better-than-expected time in favorable wind conditions. Three dolphins even swam alongside him for a time.
The swimmer lost his arms and legs after suffering severe electric shock in an accident in 1994.
He set off from Folkestone in Britain on Saturday and is heading for French coast. The trip may take him up to 24 hours.
