Interesting. Within hours of each other you post the absolute need to do workouts such as 4x2000 and/or 8x500 to be able to achieve your goals, and then tell us "if and when" you do them.
I won't do them if I don't think that it is possible or productive. I can't imagine that this will happen, but who knows? I didn't do these things for the last seven years.
aharmer wrote:The truth is you are doing these things in an attempt to sharpen.
I sure hope so, but who knows?
aharmer wrote:You will never post them because the times are nowhere near where you claim they will be. You will claim having never done them because you can't post average results.
No. If I do the sessions, I'll post the results.
aharmer wrote:When you pull a fully sharpened 6:40 or 6:45 you can claim it was done with no preparation, allowing you to keep up the charade for another several months.
If I don't sharpen before BIRC, sure, I'll try to sharpen before WIRC.
aharmer wrote:Do you really think we'll believe you're going over to BIRC with nothing but biking, OTW playtime and rowing with breaks on the erg for an hour a day as your preparation?
I suspect that the 3.5 hours of physical work I do every day would overwhelm you. It isn't slight. On the other hand, as you point out, and I concur, it isn't very appropriate at this time. I need to sharpen to do my best. If I sharpen hard for a couple of months, I'll pull about a dozen seconds faster over 2K. So, if I don't sharpen, I'll probably pull 6:32. If I sharpen, I'll pull 6:20.
aharmer wrote: Seven weeks from now what will your excuse be for doing nothing more than lackadaisical rowing with breaks before your last chance to break the WR that consumes you?
Well, since 6:32 beats the hell out of the 55s lwt WR, no excuses will be necessary. I will be the WR holder. I will break the 55s lwt WR by six seconds, even though I am 59, and without even preparing for it. Then again, if this happens, I'll be disappointed in myself for not getting the lead out of my ass and doing what I need to do to row my best.
